Honestly, I don't believe you need to be scared. I really like Scooby as a poster, but I disagree with his assessment of the U.S.

What we are seeing right now is just another example of "fear sells." There is a reason that fear is used more and more in this country as a motivating factor, and that's because we actually have it pretty good here. I don't think you could point to another single point in history where we, as a country, were in a better place than we are right now.

When that is going on, you have to try to frighten people to motivate them.

A few in the last thread asked flat out how Trump could still be polling at 42%. You just saw it last night. The theatrics from Marmalade Harold Hill is what continues to protract his campaign.

Trump was backed into a corner out of the gate. Anderson Cooper helped land a couple strong hooks. And as the night dragged on, Hillary snagged defeat from the jaws of victory.

Last night did nothing to persuade undecided voters. For Christ's sake, I'm still waiting for a response from either candidate to the first question:
"... Knowing that educators assign viewing the presidential debates as students’ homework, do you feel you are modelling appropriate and positive behavior for today’s youth?"

Neither candidate answered this simple question. Christ. All Clinton had to say was: "Yes, I do feel I have been a positive model for our future generations because ... [Continue into her obviously planned and rehearsed opening statement]," or for Trump: "Yes, I do during this campaign. Sure my antics years ago may not paint the best picture of myself, but this last year I have (something, something, better person) [continue on into agreeing with Hillary about America and how those are his plans too]."



Trump knew the tapes were going to be coming. EVERYONE knew the tapes were going to be talked about. Trump had a chance to swing at the first pitch and safely get on base and minimize the tape issue. It was a low fastball and Trump left the bat in his shoulder waiting for the next pitch. Cooper throws the second one high and in his ear, directly addressing the elephant in the room, and *that's* the pitch Trump swings at?!?!? Then Trump promptly complains about the umpire after striking out on the first question.

Hillary's "at-bat" on that first question was just as terrible, but because she knew she'd have more at bats, she half-heartedly swung at the pitch and popped up for an out.

This was like watching the Mets scrimmage against each other. (Sorry Kep)

No we all saw it for what it was...no one did or said anything of value. The difference is Scooby pretends that means Drumpf won and now is going to take back his "path to victory" that he had for all of a week whereas even the most positive Drumpfers admit he gained nothing. He is starting at a deficit staying even doesnt do anything but kick the can down the road. He has 4 states he has to win to have a shot and nothing he said will help him.

She could obviously still choke it away...but last night did nothing to change anything no matter how much MSNBC pretends it did. None of his problems go away because he got in one zinger and Hillary played prevent defense.

Agreed on the second point...but he does a morning show on a two bit network so he is even less relevant ;)

I will concede your point if nothing comes out about Drumpf between now and the 19th. That isnt likely though ;)

Once that set, we've been so much more partisan... That was the tone when Gingrich got himself the House. Even though that happened under Bill, I think it was the hangover from losing to Bill, not the actual Clinton policies. He was fairly moderate, but the hate preceded him at every corner.

See this is our limitation as humans. As educated as we may be, we sometimes feel like things only started during our lifetimes. If we didn't experience it, it never really happened.

Partisan politics is as old as politics itself. If you want to amuse yourself, just google something like "partisan political fights in the 1800's" or choose the 1700's or whenever. Great examples of people acting every bit as nasty, childish and partisan, if not more so, than we see today.

but now nothing moves.

had to have been after 41. after all he did go back on his no new taxes and signed an increase.

I say this quite often...I mean think about Congress pre-Civil War there would be fights. We had a duel involving Hamilton and Burr...this stuff isnt new.

One has to wonder what Republicans are seeing in internal polling if they dropped him so quickly, especially since if you're McCain or Ayotte you HAVE to know his supporters are now going to carry a blood libel against you. Some pundidiots were speculating that Trump voters would forgive and forget? :confused: In order to keep the Senate. Who really thinks the alt-right crowd gives a fuk about keeping Itch McConnell in his job?

Trump is doomed. You have to figure there's a lot more tapes ready to come out. I read that for a scandal to take hold it has a two week life from when you drop the bomb to when you max out the effect. That means with the election 4 weeks away we have two more weeks of the Clinton's eviscerating him most likely using his own words.

Oh, and Scooby is still a fuking idiot. :D

I will say it's quite interesting watching the reactions to those Republicans who have disavowed Drumpf. Murkowski up here is feeling the brunt of it in her reelection campaign with the Trumpers calling her a RINO and many outside the party calling her wimp for not doing it earlier.
