kaine said that pence was wrong with the failed hilly russian re-set. that hilly can sit down and make tough negotiations.

naomi asked kaine what went wrong with the re-set.

kaine says "putin." "putin is what went wrong. he's a dictator."

.....so. can hilly negotiate with putin and make him toe the line?
or does hilly not have the ability to make the dictator follow what is negotiated?

Set aside message, just going with behavior, as annoying as Trump was for interrupting and talking over Clinton, Kaine is worse. (I'm just listening, no video.)

Pence hasn't laid a glove on him or Hillary. All tired crap. Kaine has brought out new stuff and it's landing.

I'd give the edge to Kaine overall, but Pence has come off as more likeable. Which is actually very scary. He could conceivably gather up Trump's voters and win back a lot of moderates with his steady, folksy brand of lying.

EDIT: This is a non-answer to the "test of faith" question by Pence. He's spun it into Democrats and abortion.

Yup. Kaine failed the "Russian reset" question. If Hillary can deal with Big Bad Vlad, why'd is Vlad running roughshod around half the world?

This really is a Generic Debate. I mean it's nice to see two people up there with functioning brain cells, but when these things go smoothly it's a used car salesman duet. You can admire the professionalism and virtuosity, but by the end you want to pull the lever for None of the Above.

Kaine maybe could have calmed down on the aggressiveness a little, but they clearly want to keep the other side on the defensive, so we'll see if it works. Pence's whole "aww shucks" smirky responses really grate on me for some reason.

I think for both sides the strategy was to hold serve. For Clinton/Kaine, it was to keep everyone reminded that she has plans! plans! plans! and that Trump said/did awful things. For Pence, it was to remind us that everything is on fire due to Hillary being in Obama's administration, and to make it the whole 90 minutes without addressing anything Trump said/did. You'll notice I called one team Clinton/Kaine and the other just Pence, since Pence's strategy apparently is to avoid committing to much to anything Trump (and maybe set himself up for 2020).
