The problem is his net worth is almost all illiquid assets. If we want to say he's worth $3B, that's fine since we don't actually know, but you can't bribe somebody to get off the hook on your scam school with some golf course in Scotland or the licensing rights to your own name, which is where most of his worth comes from.
It also can't be pointed out enough that if he actually is worth $3B, that's horrible, horrible return on the pile of money that Daddy left him.
Some thoughts on this issue: Allegedly Trump has bought the Florida Attorney General for a $25,000 campaign contribution. Now granted that Trump wrote the check from his foundation rather than personally because he's either a) actually broke (despite the most extremely conservative estimates placing his value at least at $3 billion )
