Is it possible that the collective media assumed, like some here, there simply was no path to an electoral victory for Trump because there weren't enough racists or old white men? Did they figured they'd play the campaign for ratings and not worry about the future because they knew in the end Hillary would prevail? Had they treated him like the lying piece of stool sample he is from the beginning, we'd end up with a Clinton presidency anyway, but they would not get their precious ratings. You can't count on a mysterious plane crash every month, you know?

No if they miscalculated they would be pivoting now...they arent. It isnt like they were letting Hillary stuff go every time there is even a hint of a story the New York Times puts it front and center and CNN leads with it. No it is more likely they completely sold out and are now look so bad for doing it they cant pull out of it. They helped create this monster...
People are lazy and ill informed and the media is so afraid of them tuning out to go read the newest BS on Gawker or Jezebel that they placate to that instead of doing their job of actually informing people. When entertainment TV like Maher or The Daily Show do a better job of covering politics and issues than actual journalists on real networks do, you come out with what we are seeing. And the thing is, it wouldnt even take real work to fix the issue (like I said The Daily Show did it for years on flipping Comedy Central) just have some flunky find youtube clips and show them to the people as they lie. That is how you stop a liar. Find the video of Drumpf talking about his "investigators in Hawaii" and how "They are finding things that you wouldnt believe!" about Obama and his heritage. It takes five minutes tops and you shut it down. You have a tailor made gotcha moment and having seen Conway many times she is easy to fluster just like Drumpf is...
Instead the Hillary Campaign will have to spend all week denying this so that Conway can then pivot and lie saying Hillary never talks about the issues.
Whoever Hillary's COS is needs to change the strategy now. (because playing this straight wont work if the media wont play their role) Hillary needs to tweet out the footage of Drumpf talking about birtherism annd the things he has said about Obama over the years and then they need to make an ad about it and push it out there. They then need to get Obama to speak and talk about how big of a joke it is. Then she needs to put on a full court press until the debates. Not just ads or response tweets, out in front reminding everyone of the difference between the two. She needs have her people on all the stupid pundit shows just like Drumpf does, pushing agenda and pushing the lies. If the media wont cover things fairly when face to face with the candidates people then use it to your advantage. it is time for the gloves to come off because if one side isnt playing fair standing with your principle's will make you feel morally clean but it will also lead you to the lecture circuit as you will undoubtedly lose.
For the record I still dont think she loses, but right now her strategy is a loser. Drumpf has adjusted his gameplan and it is time she did too.

Scooby you are drunk I just watched Conway on Todd she hardly owned him. He called her out on everything and she had no answer for him so she just kept changing the subject. It is way too early lay off the sauce buddy.
And they did not confirm it started with her Todd said and I quote "Who cares where it started, Drumpf has been perpetuating this 5 years it is part of his identity. Why would 2 wrongs make a right?". She then talked about how Hillary didnt see him coming or Sanders or Drumpf so she isnt strong on her feet. (not an answer) Then Todd hit her with "You guys called this a smear, are you saying Donald Drumpf smeared the President for Five Years? Why didnt Drumpf apologize to the President? Why didnt he apologize to the family of the man who was killed in a plane crash when he tweeted that he was murdered as part of the cover up? Shouldnt he apologize?" She then had no answer again and talked about how Drumpf is discussing the issues and never answered the question.

I put this in the category of the proliferation of checking from behind and boarding majors in college hockey. I hate them because they have not eliminated or even lessened the amount of "dangerous" hitting/checking going on. If anything is happens more often now, and more and more players have taken to diving or getting up slowly in the hopes of selling a major penalty to a referee. If the players don't have enough respect for themselves and each other why should I care? Call a 2-minute minor so you take the subjective element out of the equation and leave it at that.

This is indeed happening on a major network, perhaps just one that you yourself don't watch, but my neighbors do. The "Latin Walter Cronkite", Univision's Jorge Ramos says Judgement Day is coming for those who stay silent on Trump.
Mr. Ramos has been on an all out crusade against Trump for quite some time.* How effective it is I can't say. A very recent poll in Florida shows Mrs. Clinton lagging Obama's numbers among Hispanics by 7 points at 53% in the state which is troubling for her. Anecdotally, several of my Latino friends are Cubans who still hate Castro and aren't at all happy with Cuban outreach. Several of my non-Cuban Latino friends just don't seem that motivated to turn out for Mrs. Clinton the way they were for the president 4 years ago. I think something much more positive has to happen for Mrs. Clinton to get them going and keep Florida from going red.
*In fairness perhaps it should be pointed out that Univision is controlled by Haim Saban through Saban Capitol Group. Mr. Saban is the 2nd largest donor to the Clinton campaign and perhaps the largest aggregate donor to US Democrats in the world. Unfortunately that makes it harder to say if it's all just pure altruism.

While important perhaps, I think the mainstream media is still where this needs to happen. With combined audiences averaging somewhere around 25 million viewers a night, the network flagship news broadcast still can make a difference. Especially since their audience is whiter and older than the nation at large. The very people who are alleged to make up all of Trump's support. Dan Rather does not need to tell me that Trump is dangerous and unfit and why he is dangerous and unfit. But somebody needs to start telling the other old white guys, the ones who are still tuning in to the network news programs on a regular basis.

Were they expecting that decades later he would want to run for president and they needed to make sure people would believe he was born here? That he was born to a U.S. citizen who live most of her life in this country before he was born assured him citizenship upon birth anyway, and for all but the few among us who think we could be president, what more do you really need? It isn't even settled law that birthright citizenship wouldn't have been enough in the first place. It's one of the dumbest conspiracies I have ever heard of. It's easier to believe we faked the moon landing, Oswald was a patsy AND the 1990 Oakland A's threw the world series to the Reds. In very early polling after Trump announced his run for the 2016 election, nearly 2/3rds of his supporters believed Obama was born outside the United States. If Hillary Clinton abandoned one of her defining issues or beliefs, how many people would she turn off? If she came out tomorrow as pro-life, or disavowed Obamacare, or adopted the NRAs stance on semi-automatic rifles wouldn't we expect to see a serious cratering of her poll numbers? Yet Trump throws away a belief he claimed to hold so deeply that at one time he promised to release his tax returns if Obama would produce his complete birth certificate. Of course Obama did just that but Trump, being the lying piece of stool sample he is reneged.
How anyone could vote for this talking, orange pile of unflushed diarrhea is beyond me. A bunch of rubes being taken to the cleaner by the modern reincarnation of Adolph Hitler.
