Chip off the old block.

The thing that's amazing is they actually believe they are biased against. They have no clue they only exist because of the media. If not for the free media given to Trump, he would not have cracked 1% in the primaries.

While his point is stupid (the media has never been in the tank for Hillary) I dont think his comment is worthy of any further thought. That headline is Gawker clickbait-esque and completely misrepresents what he is saying.

What he's saying is also inane.

Folks do realize that 5 US states still do use the option of lethal gas (the "gas chamber") for public executions.

Unfortunately, not all gas chambers ended in the 1940s.

That's right. Just the DNC.

No shiat, the party favored the lifelong member over the noob.

It might not be fair, but it shouldn't be shocking, either.

And it didn't matter, anyway, because Hillary got significently more primary votes.

The RNC was in the tank for someone other than Trump until it went out of control. When are you (private sector guys) going to admit that that's the way the world works. You guys love the private sector until it doesn't work for you and then you scream foul. It's comedy.

RNC and DNC are private entities. They can do whatever the hell they want to pick their nominee. It's not hard to figure out. It's black letter law actually.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XVIII: I'm OK, You're Deplorable

This is an interesting point.

First off, some battleground states are moving towards Trump. OH and especially IA have moved pretty significantly over the last month.

OTOH, states that are more racially diverse have been holding or even wandering towards Clinton. VA has now become uncontestable, NC has not been moving as strongly towards Trump, and everybody's favorites -- AZ and GA -- while still fairly safely Trump have not been moving farther towards him.

This suggests that even though this cycle will probably come down to the same battleground states as the last several elections (FL, OH, NV, VA) it may be the last election before a new set of battleground states emerges -- blue leaners that are mostly white (NH, WI) may fall back into the purple along with red leaners that are diverse (NC, GA, AZ). When we look at the former purples than have now become safe states (NM, CO, VA for blue; IN for red), a similar bifurcation is observed.

tl; dr: We may be moving towards a period of ancestry polarization in our politics similar to the 1850s. Then it was the English vs the Irish and Germans. Now it's
the Scots-Irish and Germans vs everybody else.

You're surprised by any of this? If the Constitution is a "living, breathing document", shouldn't the electoral map be as well?

As a Bernie supporter I dont care that the DNC was in the tank for a Democratic nominee. Bernie is as much a Democrat as I am Catholic :p

If a document is not expected to be staid and unchanging.

It doesn't change. It's open to human interpretation. Humans are fallible and have bias by definition. The changing is the fact that societal norms change over time and what might have been true 150 years ago seems silly today.
