Darnit. I knew I should have moved to Hollywood when I was 15. Wouldn't have minded her breaking me in all those years ago. ;)

The pretty half of Hollywood.

Fascinating look at polls comparing 2012 to 2016 at the same point in time! Not a big fan of RCP as they aggregate even that ridiculous LA Times/USC poll, but this is interesting...

That really is interesting. Nice find.

538 is showing a very big bounce for Hillary. All three models have FL flipping back to blue, and NowCast has Hillary at nearly 70% chance with NV and NC also blue. PA is starting to look out of reach for Trump and that is Very Bad News for the GOP, particularly with a vital Senate seat up there.

This may all evaporate as quickly as it came. The next presidential debate is 10 days away; Pence-Kaine is 5 days from now. But right now Hillary's "bad week" seems like it was months ago.

McAfee was born in the UK.

I did not know that.

Isn't he supposed to be in jail for pretty much everything (illegal firearms, financial transactions with terrorists and mafiosa, drug running, attempted murder, maybe actual murder, and statutory everything?)?

I'd be more worried against a candidate who recognizes his faults and takes the time to change them. I see an even more belligerent Trump next debate. He's clearly seething at getting smoked in the last contest and I doubt he's going to tone it down in response. If he did, the press would lead with how he's been neutered. He has no choice but to double down.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XIX: Escape from the Planet of Debates

you HAVE to choose between the mf choices your company supplies? last 2 jobs mookie has had you can opt into managing it yourself and buying individual stocks.

When I was in 401(k) management, most plans offered a maximum of 20 MuFus, but that started to change as I was laid off from that company. You will still see some legacy plans with a small choice of funds available, maybe 10 or so, but there's been a move for many companies to offer a max of up to 100 MuFu choices, and some allow for user-directed investments of stocks, bonds, and such. Those were still very uncommon when I was in that business, but may have grown in frequency.

Smaller companies tended to have fewer options available to their employees because nobody there had much knowledge with investments, and I think were scared of overwhelming their employees. Also, the fewer offerings available, the lower the cost of the plan as the trust company had less to do when managing it and reporting information to participants and the federal gov't.

I don't get the sense Gary Johnson cares much about any issue aside from legalizing drugs. While we can agree or disagree on whether making hard drugs cheaper and more available is the solution to drug addiction, most people would agree to be President you might need knowledge of a broader range of issues. Sorta Trump's problem as well.

He cares about balancing the budget. Said last night if he were elected he would send to Congress a 20% cut across the board for the entire federal government. The mere fact that ideas like this exist and the deficit exists shows how blatantly negligent our Congress is in doing it's job.

So basically he wants no govt services but it won't matter because we'll all be stoned to the bejeezus? Well, not any more nutty than Trump's proposals I guess. ;)

What do you cut to achieve the 20%? Whose sacred cow gets gored?

Even it that's the only board in his platform, he should be ready for questions that don't hit it. Seriously, last night even a simple, ...

"I'm not interested in talking about foreign leaders right now. Why? Simple. Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people. Mr. Mathews, I'm not here to be a small mind. This country has enough internal problems that must be dealt with. I'm running for President of the United States. I will focus on US problems first and foremost. Let's talk about ideas to fix those."

OK, maybe that wasn't so simple, and maybe I should be doing something different.
