Campaign 2016 Part XIV: Just Dropped in (To See What Condition My Convention Was In)

uhhhh

he lost in elected delegates and popular vote (by millions of votes). Did you want the superdelegates to back him anyway? If you got rid of superdelegates he would have still lost.

how is that getting screwed?

If Bernie's suit in California has merit, he lost the counted vote.

Voter fraud is a democratic institution.

There's no way anything that happened Tuesday night was more embarrassing than them plagiarizing Melania's speech Monday night, right?

Right?

No, Carson's Alinsky-Lucifer tangent was more embarrassing. They gave a primetime slot to that crap.

The whole thing is embarrassing. In Carson's case at least I was expecting him to say something insane! At some point Goopers will realize nobody gives a rat's arse about the culture wars of the 60s or even the 80's except for really old people. Which, is pretty much 99% of the party at this point.

I hear even Scooby is giving up on Trump might win concern trolling after 2 days of watching this ***** show!

The latter is why they can't move on from the former. The Republican party invested so much in stoking that anger they feel they can't stop now or they'll lose all that invested capital. But since everybody else -- 70%+ of the population -- has moved on, with every new shriek or crazy accusation, the Republicans drive off everyone who is not already in their cult.

Chachi said "Trump will make America America again." But most Americans not only recognize the America of today as America, they also understand the old exclusionary America was only good for a small percentage of its population. Everybody else had to "know their place" -- the most Anti-American attitude possible.

No one will care about that come November.
Scooby is the eternal pessimist so Trump will always have a chance but in reality he has to be the worst presidential candidate in either party ever.

Oddly enough, I get the reasoning behind it. Trump knows he has a ceiling for votes. His only hope of winning is that she draws millions less votes than Obama did last time. The problem is in the method. The over the top lunacy can't possibly be appealing to anybody who isn't already in their camp. A lot of swing voters may not like Hillary. However, its a bit disturbing that one major party is openly calling for putting its opposition in jail. Is this an American election or a Russian one? Not sure how the last 2 days helps keep people who were even remotely on the fence away from the Dems.

A bit worried myself, although some of the answers I chose weren't worded exactly as I would have liked, but they were very close to what I feel (as is the case with many of these types of quizzes):

Trump 85%
Johnson 84%
Sanders 57%
Clinton 53%
Stein 51%

Johnson / Weld is pretty close to the top!
:D

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XIV: Just Dropped in (To See What Condition My Convention Was

That isnt getting screwed, that is losing. That is like hockey fans who whine when their team doesnt get an equal number of PPs. Sure there maybe, could be, possibly something shady going on but that isnt proof of it.

Bernie lost because he couldnt win the states he needed to win to get the delegates needed. If he could have flipped a few of the bigger states the SDs would have joined him. He couldnt and they didnt.

I think it's more the fact so many supers made their pledge to Hillary before the race had really started. It was what, 400-0 before the first debate even occurred? Media isn't supposed to use super delegates in their math, but they always did, so Hillary's lead always looked way larger than it was.

Not exactly getting screwed in the sense of there being massive election fraud like the Bernie subreddit would like to believe, but annoying nonetheless. I don't really buy the election fraud stuff anyway. Quite a few of these lawsuits have been filed and not much has been heard of them since. Some people like to point to exit poll discrepancies, but some of these states had deadlines months in advance or were closed and had movements for independents to vote in the hopes there would be last minute overturns of rules (specifically NY), so the discrepancy doesn't surprise me too much. Besides, if the fraud was true, Michigan would have never happened. That upset had the ability to change everything, and if it was truly rigged the DNC and Hillary would've thrown out some Lansing or GR ballots or add a few more Detroits.

But this would all be changed if states went to Oregon's mail-in system, or at the very least had same day registration/open primaries.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XIV: Just Dropped in (To See What Condition My Convention Was

SDs can flip at any point. The media would have jumped all over that if there was even a hint they would.

And again, take the SDs out how many states did Bernie win and how many did The Shrill win?

The GOP's only hope is for the whole country to become depressed and disinterested. They need a continuous firehose of terrible, demoralizing news, and if reality doesn't supply it they will have to fabricate it.

This is always the case for the Out party when the sitting administration has presided over an improving economy. But in this case Trump's ceiling is so low they really need to cripple the country to have a chance. Just make everything so depressing that everybody gives up.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XIV: Just Dropped in (To See What Condition My Convention Was

I have to admit, I'm pretty apolitical. I don't follow enough to feel like I can speak coherently enough about either side. I do want to ask, though, and I'm being sincere and not a wiseass here:

1. What exactly are the folks at the RNC wanting Clinton to go to jail for?
2. Why are they calling her a liar? I mean, I think I get why, but hasn't Trump been caught in lie after lie? Why does he constantly call her one when he's the biggest one out there?

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XIV: Just Dropped in (To See What Condition My Convention Was

RT is strange, but Putin and Trump's mutual crush is also strange, and this convention is super strange, so RT seems to intuitively understand it.

1. Having a "D" after her name.
2. Oh, because she is a big ol' liar.

The nutbars who wanted her in stripes last night were the moderates. This guy wants her d-e-d dead.

He has a Rover like devotion to them :D

I hope that is not a reference to me.

As for Hillary, when the FBI calls you out, that is an issue in my mind.......

She is like a male Snowden

She lied in that she didn't fumble top secret national security email on multiple occasions

True. And yet even when the GOP had winning candidates over the last 25 years it has been waging a war of brutal attrition to brand the Clinton name with the "liar" identity. They have lost far more battles than they won, but they have kept sending in troups, applying the liar identity to each and every controversy they could uncover or create. Now people are tired, and they apply the label without much, if any, thought.
