Re: Campaign 2016 Part XIV: Just Dropped in (To See What Condition My Convention Was

I'll give Trump/Pence credit, though, no other campaign has included insertion in their logo.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XIV: Just Dropped in (To See What Condition My Convention Was

My reaction too. Idiots are great because they self-identify.

Then again, Dubya...

Normally I would say it is bad but in this case I think it has merit. First of all a debate will highlight everything most people hate about Clinton and love about Drumpf. Sure he will stammer and say idiotic stuff but that is what people like about him.

The guy's campaign is broke, no need to give him free airtime so spew his garbage.

That said it would never happen. They should minimize the debates though...1 or 2 but nothing more.

The whole platform is easily their most extreme in decades. I don't know why you're so shocked.

Looking a little closer, does that make someone who wants to **** on their campaign "Cornholio"? ;)

I'm shocked cause I just honestly cannot believe it. It's no wonder we stay so stagnant on so many things.

If you look at the GOP platform and Candidate as a reflection of what they think will win a presidential election--THAT is frightening. Not for what it says about them but for what it says about us.

They aren't thinking that way. What's been happening is the activist core of the GOP is collapsing in on itself like a black hole and the folks who are left are super homogeneous. So when they demonize gays or trans people or sell out to their energy bribers, er, donors there's nobody else in the room to say, "stop, we're not in favor of that."

The GOP reminds me of a student council that keeps voting to encode language about "microaggressions." Everybody in the room is exactly the same and has come off exactly the same conveyor belt, so that language is natural to them. The result is an unbreakable groupthink that to the rest of the world looks like a cult

The GOP always had crazies like this -- Birchers, white supremacists, homophobes so obsessed you really had to wonder... -- but they have become so narrow and united by paranoia and fury that their standard deviation is dropping towards zero.

Good, cause if it were a comment on who we are, it would make me afraid of the dangerous guy next to me, making me the guy next to me.

With apologies to fans of Mary Poppins

"Feed the birds,
Trumppence a bag,...."

somewhere there is already a meme of Trump looking like the bird lady.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XIV: Just Dropped in (To See What Condition My Convention Was

That would be great, and by great I mean scary because the last thing we need is to throw the election to the House.

If Jill Stein is hitting 12% I'd be worried about that, not if its Johnson. Libertarians and liberals have almost nothing in common except for restraining the defense department and foreign interventions. I'd speculate Johnson is getting about 90% of his vote from usual Republican voters who can't stomach Trump but can live with two ex GOP governors.

And at least some of the social platform... pro choice, LGBT rights etc etc.
