Trump is a salesman. He's a good one too. Sales people convince you to buy stuff you don't actually need. He's assessed his market using not much more than instinct and an ability to read people and decided that maximizing old white guy anger at "losing our country" is the ONLY way for a Republican to win a Presidential election. He's 100% correct in that assessment. He's just more open about appealing to it. Really, if Goopers were SOOOOOO offended by Trump, how come no elected official with the exception of MD's governor to my knowledge has come out and said they absolutely will not vote for him? "I won't talk about him" = a BS wuss out. Come out against him or you own him.

I'm curious to know: if he ran as a Democrat, would you vote for him? My theory is that he has no actual position on anything, and is purely a personality-based candidate (but it's a personality that's already familiar to me - technically called Narcissistic Personality Disorder - and I despise its effects.)
Also - all the talk about Trump being a businessman and a successful salesman is complete hogwash. He's no more than a bankrupt con man and TV host who has wasted his enormous inheritance in litigation with real people.

However, what I've said repeatedly is Trump represents perfectly modern day conservatism. He IS conservative Republicanism in its truest form. Racist. Brainless. Overly militaristic. Plutocracy based. Too many people from the lamestream media to Goopers to even my fellow libs (I have Kep in mind with this one) go around believing the notion that "oh, Trump is just an anomaly. One day the real conservatives will re-assert themselves." The "real conservatives" are Trump and his supporters and enablers. The sooner everybody admits that, the better off we're all going to be.

"Admirable" skills? No. I think he has skills in selling things to people while assuming no personal risk. He's done that in business and he's doing that in politics. While I may disagree with his methods, much like I disagreed with those of Lee Atwater, you also have to admit where he's been successful (defined as achieving the goals he set out to accomplish).

He is actually. 1) Wealth transfers to the 1%. 2) Anti-immigrant. 3) Anti-Muslim. 4) Jack up defense spending. 5) Anti-science

Is there any box he doesn't check for conservatives???? Some would say he differs with Congressional righties is he wants to keep/expand entitlement programs for older whites, while people like Ryan and assorted Koch brothers think tanks want to go back to a feudal society for everyone. But notice how Ryan's program cuts always exempt people 55 and older - basically the Republican base. Again, he and Trump are in sync.

That still gives Trump: ID, ND, WY, SD, UT*, NE, KY, WV, KS, AR, TN, OK, LA, AL. Let's take out UT because the Mormons hate Trump.

I just don't think it's possible. The deep red states are a Fundamentalist Christian Caliphate that is trapped in North America through an accident of history. It belongs in the Middle East with the other crazies.

If blacks, Hispanics, and Asians all went to 100% Democratic, Republicans would still have 139 EV. If all those go to 100 and college educated whites flip from 56R to 56D, they still get 73 EV. You need the three minorities at 100 and CEW at 81D before the last state (WY) leaves the Caliphate.

Hillary Clinton's campaign is taking the reins of the Democratic National Committee, installing a new top official on Thursday to oversee the party's day-to-day operations through the general election.

Brandon Davis, national political director for the Service Employees International Union, will become the general election chief of staff for the Democratic Party.

The campaign team is the national party during the election run-up, so this means DWS just lost her power. Now, DWS is a Clintonista -- she will either stay as DNC chair and take the power back in 2017 or move to another very powerful (but hopefully less public) position. She put her thumb on the scale throughout the nomination and Hillary owes her, and the Clintons -- like all capos -- value and repay loyalty.

But at least that ugly mug will be away from the cameras now. One small mercy.
