Re: Campaign 2016 Part XII: What Have We Done To Deserve This?

I didn't understand the language portion of the adaptability section. What is the deal with that?

I kind of guessed but graded myself rather low...or at least I think I did ;)

Face facts though I can just drive up there, buy some Tim Hortons and talk hockey and completely assimilate!

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XII: What Have We Done To Deserve This?

The Clintons need to play the long game on this one...let him bury himself in contradictions and sit back and smile :) Come the debates he will have to pick a stance or he will get buried.

He will only get buried if the moderators and reporters call him on it, and there has been a decisive ability so far to normalize him as if he were just another candidate. The GOP captive media will of course just validate whatever their viewers think, so as Trump becomes Generic R running to defeat Demon D they will roll over for whatever Trump wants. The mainstream media will play their usual "the truth is the average between the center and the far right" game.

Voters are now so walled off in their personalized fact-free safe spaces that Trump supporters will never hear the emperor has no clothes. It doesn't matter what he says. "If you can't pronounce a word, say it loudly!"

The moderators did that in the GOP debates (hell Megyn Kelly was considered smart for a minute for doing it) there is zero chance they wont come the general. Not because they want to expose him mind you, but to get a reaction from him ;)

No, I mean I didn't understand what they even meant. I got the first section's 1st/2nd language scoring. But why is it repeated again? Do they mean "what's your ceiling for these languages"?

BTW, I scored as highly qualified too, but I don't believe it -- Canada is notoriously difficult to get into unless you can transition a local firm's sponsorship to a work Visa and from there go from your Canadian work tenure to an application for citizenship. They're trying to keep the wetbacks (us) out, too.

Hmm. OK, I can see that. Thank you, you have given me some hope.

I can't imagine a debate on the merits on any subject where Trump won't look like a baboon-brained circus freak compared to Hillary. She could probably even clean his clock on real estate law -- she was a corporate attorney after all. Trump can't even hook clauses together to form meaningful sentences. He rambles like somebody with a mental disorder.

And yet... that was ALL true during the nomination, and he won every debate except the one he skipped.

I can see how it can happen, and since he is the nominee now I have to think about the ramifications. I will enjoy watching Rome burn from Vancouver or Toronto ;) The girlfriend would want to move to France but no way in hell I am touching Europe the next decade or so. They are one attack away from Hitler Part Deux!

If you're thinking Toronto, you'd better have one hell of a nest egg. The Wynne Liberals were elected to a majority by the idiots (mostly in downtown TO) and they're continuing to turn the once richest province into Venezuela. Just one of the many reasons I have no desire to move back home.

Re: Campaign 2016 Part XII: What Have We Done To Deserve This?

A BIG misunderstanding people make about Trump is applying the lessons of the primary to the general election. Trump won his nomination because he was willing to "go there" and openly appeal to racism and bigotry (amongst other things) with an electorate that by and large is now racist and bigoted (Republicans, that is). Everybody else was either trying to run as a traditional GOP stiff (Jebbers!, Kasich, Christie) or was playing catch-up as Trump lobbed bomb after bomb (Cruz, Rubio, Fiorina).

The general electorate is a lot more diverse and younger than the Old Country Buffet crowd that shows up in GOP primaries. Trump could very well lose the non-white vote 90-10 (this includes Asians which he also has terrible #'s with for whatever reason). He's not going to win women or young voters. There just aren't enough crabby old white guys out there to make up the difference. In short, he's screwed.

I thought Toronto politics was dominated by Tory "take your filthy hands off my real estate" developers? Bloombergian benign neglect? What happened to all the well scrubbed suburbanites who got tired of West Indian immigrant grocers and voted in the Fords to roll up the sidewalks?

The VRWC will channel Trump to exhume and fling every festering, age-old Clinton "scandal" that they can at the wall, and see what sticks. This is just the beginning. Fostergate, Travelgate, Filegate, Whitewater, Coffeegate, Boeing Bucks, every single one of Bill's bimbo eruptions, Orgy Island, Pardongate, looting the White House, all of their speaking fees in the past 20 years, Benghazi, every donation ever received by the Clinton Foundation, Servergate, etc. etc. We're going to have to re-live it all.

Or we could just vote Democratic majorities in both chambers and all this crap would die in committee.

Uh, huh.

W won, twice. That's all I need to know about your assuredness that the most hated woman in America is a lock.

You are seeing what you want to see. tD has been running against everyone.
That has appeal. Crossover appeal.

Keep your head in the sand at your own peril my friend :)

Mookie don't think he needs to pick any stance. He will do just fine in the eyes of the voters.
Calling people stupid is a winner.

Calling hilly any disparaging name is a double down winner
