Campaign 2016 - It's never too late to start all over again!

My Dad volunteered in January 1942. But that was a different war.
Well, I know I've read how that status could effect treatment by officers and NCOs, so I'm wondering if that could have an effect on the statistics?

I couldn't tell you what the guy was up to 50 years ago, so if he did some good give him his props. It doesn't make up for giving us GWB. Some screw ups you don't get to live down. He doesn't get a pass on this one, and deserves all the scorn that comes his way. He owns it, plain and simple.

And maybe if Gore hadnt completely choked it wouldnt have mattered. Nader wasnt to blame Gore was. Any other candidate walks away with that election Gore didnt make one good decision after he got the nomination up to and including the recount. He botched all of it. h was almost as bad at playing with a lead as your long lost love HRC was against Obama...

Nothing wrong with regime change. Some do it peacefully via the ballot box and some do it (way) less peacefully via the barrel of a gun. However, if you're going to subscribe to a regime change, make sure you've thought it out. We didn't. Didn't have it thought out when Diem got the chop and when Saddam got the noose.

There is plenty wrong with regime change when a third party is the one forcing it. If the Iraqis wanted to oust their leader like Egypt fine more power to them...but us making them do it because Jr. felt guilty because his dad didnt kill Saddam in 1991 is not ok. Who are we to do that...can other countries do that here too?

I think 43 was upset because Saddam wanted to kill Daddy. While in Texas that's probably fightin' words, it's not good diplomacy.

Even Tom Clancy knew that a secular Iraq was the buffer between Iran and the Saudis.

Out of curiosity, I wonder how many were going to be drafted but volunteered instead?

I can't give you any exact figures - because I don't care to research it, but I read a memoir a few years ago called Guns Up!, a Marine's tale of his enlistment and tour in the Vietnam War. He stated that a lot of guys who were likely draftees would volunteer so as to be able to choose their branch and function within the military. For instance, a lot of guys joined the Navy in order to avoid being sent into the jungles, same with the Air Force. According to the author, the Marines, IIRC, were mostly enlisted men and not draftees - the draftees were predominantly sent into the Army.

My brother for one, lottery number in low teens. Was promised better duty if he enlisted. Still ended up in Viet Nam but not on front lines

Carly's in the race!

So some don't feel Wiki is the greatest source. But I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone prove it wrong either. Anyways, here's a wiki's summary of Carly's business experience:

Fiorina was considered one of the most powerful women in business during her tenure at Lucent and Hewlett-Packard. In 2002, Fiorina pushed for a contentious merger with rival computer company Compaq, which made HP the world's largest personal computer manufacturer[2] but made its stock lose half of its value.[3] In 2005, Fiorina resigned from HP.[4] Since then she has been described as one of the worst tech CEOs of all time.[5][6][7][8]...(Note four sources!) Fiorina ordered the layoffs of 30,000 HP employees during her tenure.[9]

This is a good thing to keep in mind:

There's no such thing as an electoral lock, so that statement is a bit odd for a pundit to make, but so be it. Beyond that though the only quibble I'd have with analysis is having NC be a non-swing state, when it was won by less than 1% each time by each party the last two elections, while including NH And NV which hasn't been close either time. To be fair I'd put them all as swing states given changing electoral moods.

Can see your point on NV and NH. The trends there have and will continue to benefit Dems. NH has been a big exurb of Boston...its now becoming a big suburb. In NV, Vegas continues to grow and so do Hispanics. I could use another election or two to determine whether NC has truly arrived as a swing.

Kep may or may not like this:

Despite lamestream media being in league with conservative book authors, Hillary STILL is 1) the only candidate for Prez not with an unfavorable approval rating, and 2) beating all potential rivals. Proving that she's such a known quantity its tough moving the dail on her, and this is before her team starts beating the sh !t out of whoever the GOP nominates.
