Life is basically Civ, yes.

I've never even attempted Immortal. I'm impressed.

Tried it a couple times. Got slaughtered. I bounce between King and Emperor, depending on who I'm going to use.

Same here. Winning on Emperor on a Standard map and Normal speed is what I aim for. I do not use exploits like slingshots and I try to stay in full immersion, so I am not playing at peak efficiency. I do micromanage, but I enjoy that aspect of the game.

Re: Campaign 2016 - It's never too late to start all over again!

Agreed. If I implied otherwise I certainly didn't mean to. Just used "easier and cheaper" as a catch-all re ways to play catch up.

Yeah, I was agreeing. Stealing is the optimal use of resources when you're way behind. That's why peoples (and people) do it. It's rational behavior. Robert K. Merton FTW.

I'm sure there's a wave function for the optimal dispersion of technology from the POV of the innovator. The trick is to sell your stuff slowly enough that you can't be leap-frogged but fast enough that you don't lose potential sales to theft. We do this with our allies by selling them current minus one generation technology.

For example, the Israelis used to be China -- they stole everything from us -- and when we figured out we couldn't stop them we solved the problem by "selling" to them (really it's the American taxpayer who foots the bill, since we give them the money they then "pay" us for the tech -- a classic trick of using middle class people in country A to enrich wealthy people in country A by using country B as a pass-through).

It doesnt matter if it is true or not, someone who hopes to represent the country in foreign matters should not say stuff like that.

That China steals a tremendous amount of technology from the US and it's a legitimate concern? I think Fiorina's ham-handed way of saying it was overly simplistic and relatively pointless, but in general...what's your issue with a candidate stating a widely known fact?

Loonies are trying to change the language under the guise of "political correctness". ;)

You really dont see why spitting in the face of another country might not look good? She isnt running HP she would be the President and would be quoted openly insulting them. I guess I expect more from someone who is supposed to be our leader.

Remember how stupid Mitt looked when he took a shot at the London Olympics?

Re: Campaign 2016 - It's never too late to start all over again!

Well, he's half right.

Bill's not great about real data. tl; dr: not a strong relationship, but in the direction one would assume if they paid attention to jocks and nerds in high school. :)

I'm not a Republican in case any of you hadn't guessed ;), but if I were it would worry me that Jebbers, Rubio and Walker have the same preference amongst primary voters as carnival barkers Ben Carson and Mike Huckleberry....

What's next - Donald Trump as the man to beat???

You're betting everything on a candidate whose finances appear to be FIFAesque. What if she falls flat on her face?

Lets just say I'm not worried about it running against those clowns in the GOP. Repubs need another Reagan to win in 2016 given demographic difficulties. Who do you feel is "Reaganesque" of that field? Dems just need another Clinton. ;)

Oh, she could screw it up. Of that there is little doubt. A lot will depend on who the GOP picks.

This is my worry, too. That's why I would like to see Elizabeth Warren as a declared candidate. If Hillary is as corrupt as I frankly assume she is, we need a Plan B, and as much as I love Bernie, it aint him. Warren would give us solid policy, passion, and on the superficial side it would allow all the I Am Woman Hear Me Roar momentum from Hillary to continue without interruption.

This also works with a less desirable but more "traditional" candidate (O'Malley, Brown for liberals or Mark Warner for centrists) with perhaps Warren as the Veep.

Your point is well taken: Hillary is VERY shady and the GOP knives have been sharpened for her for, literally, decades.

If Warren runs, Hillary's done.

No. Hillary will roll over any other candidate for the nomination unless there's a serious and genuine problem (not a fake Benghazi scandal but an actual scandal which, given the Clintons, could be anything from wire fraud in Near Abroad dictator donations to HRC to multiple murders of underaged Yakuza concubines for Bill -- that family is as Old School corrupt as the Bushes).

Unless you're saying that the only way Warren runs is if Hillary is embroiled in a career-destroying scandal. That could be correct.

Or, like 2008, she's the "fall person" in order to let someone gain momentum under the radar.

No, I'm saying Warren would run away with the nod. Dems are looking for an excuse not to back Hillary and Warren would be it. Just like '08.
