Campaign 2016 - in bridge, the trump cards are really wild.

Reminds me of the quote which IIRC Laing Kennedy made after we won at Harvard for the first time and the crowd booed the team and the Faithful. "They cheered us when they were beating us 19-0."

I hope rural whites remember what the wine drinking Republican pundit class really thinks of them. All those years of yelling about "culture of dependency" and "lack of personal responsibility" and "free loaders," they thought the Republicans were talking about those dirty Negroes. Whodathunk it's how they view all poor people?

The GOP was always an upper class twit of the year riding a tiger, and it was only a matter of time until the rider fell off and was savaged. All well and good. Hopefully, the country as a whole doesn't have to pay the price.

"White people have more in common with black people than with rich people"

Read something interesting that said if Little Marco drops out of the race after an expected FL arsekicking, his delegates become free agents. I'm curious if that's the whole point behind "suspending" a campaign - your delegates are still bound to you at the convention???

That's everyone's plan. No one left is going to drop out and let their delegates go free agent. Word is if Donald doesn't get to the threshold even if he is just one delegate short they are going to deny him the nomination.

It's a money thing. If you suspend you can still keep raising money to retire campaign debts.

Two of his rivals have endorsed him. Not sure how many delegates Christie got, if any, but Carson must have a few.

Anyone here read Harry Potter? Lately they are playing clips of tD saying all nicey, nicey things immediately followed by all the nasty things he's said (way more of those). Kind of reminded me of Voldemort and the Death Eaters.

I would think he is done in Jersey no matter what happens. His approval ratings are horrifyingly bad. The only option he has left is to hang on to tD coat tails. Of course that kills his credibility....

This is a fascinating look at how delegates get chosen and how there is a highly organized and deliberate method by which Drumpf could get ska-rooed.

Good article but really wishful thinking. As I laid out earlier, Trump most likely win the majority of delegates before the convention starts EVEN if he loses Ohio, and they're bound to him first ballot. Not sure why pundidiotry has latched onto Trump having to win both FL and OH to win the nomination outright. As I laid out earlier in the thread, he can win going away with all the WTA states coming up and little competition in big states (who beats him in NY and NJ - Kasich who can barely win his own state?).

Carson admitted (to NewsMax of all places) that he wanted to endorse Kasich or Rubio, but he didn't see them having viable paths to the nomination. Then Drumpf offered him a position in his administration for his endorsement.

If true, that's illegal, yo. There's the GOP's way out of nominating him.

Re: Campaign 2016 - in bridge, the trump cards are really wild.

I'm thinking with Rubio it might be the same as with Kasich. You can't claim the nomination in a brokered convention unless you're still in the race. A 1% change to be sure, but since Rubio is out of a job come January (one that he didn't show up for very much anyway) what else does he have to do? Might as well stick around although I can't picture him as Trump's VP.

I don't think it's illegal if it's a political appointment (which any Carson appointment would be), but only if it's a civil service position.
