Terror is at the top of the issues list. Hillary is toast.

You know the election isnt for a year right?
That's funny Cokie, since according to latest polls she laps the GOP field on terrorism...

Maybe so, but when the question is narrowed to "hair-on-fire, knee-jerk approaches to terrorism that play into ISIS's hands," Trump, Rubio, Cruz and even Christie beat her easily.![]()
Sounds about right to me. There's large swaths of red across the US Map.Regarding terror, perhaps Goopers would have an advantage if they weren't so over the top, but that's the Republican Jesus phenomenon again instead of the people who are actually running for President. Show me one Republican who's out with a reasonable proposal to combat ISIS? Instead we get proposals for concentration camps, a national Muslim registry, closing down houses of worship, yet another ground war in the Middle East, a new federal agency to promote Christianity, etc.
Voters may want a robust response, but borrowing ideas from Germany circa 1936 is when they step off the crazy train. Is ANYBODY disturbed that Trump's #'s have gone UP since Paris, even though he's proposing the most allegedly un-American response?
In red state country there's a lot of people on board with Trump's ideas...Sounds about right to me. There's large swaths of red across the US Map.

Sadly, fascism is easy to make appealing. It's surprising really. My brother, who I never would've pegged as a Trump supporter, expressed some level of joy that he's retaken the lead in GOP polls. He's not a guy I thought even voted or paid attention to politics at all, let alone conservative politics. While it's been stated over and over, both here and from the various professional pundits, but it seriously hit me then that Trump has tapped into something very base in the population at large.

538 presents a generic GOP stump speech based on polling. It's pretty good.
Nope. When is it, June??
The thing I wonder with Trump is the Chris Rock point "white people always mad at something 'affirmative action, illegal aliens' illegal aliens is where I get worried because I know *ers and Jews is next." The longer Trump goes on, the more groups he alienates, the fascist blame train can only go so far before it derails. Immigrants, refugees, Latinos, who's next? Black people? Asians? Catholics? Jews? The Irish? We didn't get into a deep discussion on the subject, but my brother's more likely to be anti-Carson than pro-fascism. He's got something of a cross between a hippy and a grease monkey, which always had me thinking that if he did vote, he'd be more of a Democrat voter than a Republican voter. More than anything, he's also very much the anti-religion sort, which makes me think that he just doesn't like Carson.
