It is frustrating. Bernie's biggest point of emphasis, systemic inequality, aligns exactly with the biggest threat to African Americans, and is the issue on which Hillary is least dependable. Dude should be polling 80/20 over Hillary among blacks; instead it's the other way.

It frustrates me. It doesn't really surprise me -- Bill Clinton locked up the black vote for Hillary long ago. In a way it is a Good Thing since it might ameliorate the drop off after the Obama disappointment of black hopes for a transformative presidency.

In other news, George Will and Matt Continetti ask not for whom the Trump tolls.

Putin slyly stirred America’s politics by saying Trump is “very talented,” adding that he welcomed Trump’s promise of “closer, deeper relations,” whatever that might mean, with Russia. Trump announced himself flattered to be “so nicely complimented” by a “highly respected” man: “When people call you brilliant, it’s always good.”

New PPP poll.

Supporters of most of the major GOP candidates agree with the basic premise that Islam should be legal in the United States- it's 59/21 with Cruz voters, 67/11 with Bush voters, and 77/10 with Rubio voters. Trump supporters are off on their own on that one too though- just 33% think Islam should be legal to 42% who think it should be illegal. Overall 53% of primary voters think Islam should be allowed to just 26% who don't think it should be.

To put some of these findings about real modern day issues and Trump voters in context, 41% of his voters think Japanese internment was a good thing, to 37% who don't. And 41% of his supporters would favor bombing Agrabah to only 9% who are opposed to doing that.

Agrabah is the country from Aladdin.

The thing with the "trick" poll questions: they never say how many people A) successfully called BS or B) decided to be cheeky and go along with the joke.

I personally think Agrabah needs to be bombed immediately. Talking parrots with Gilbert Gottfried's voice are an abomination against humanity and a threat to the world. And who knows how many more they have?

Interesting. The nearest town to where I'm living here that shows up in the survey is a perfect 0.0.

Colorado Springs (CC) is a conservative town: 2.8C. CC won titles in 1950 and 1957.

Tech profs and admins not only comprise the majority of donors, but can afford to give a lot more than Joe Heilikkenn working at the local auto garage, so it's easy to see the skew there.

No data for Hancock, but I'm guessing it's more conservative on the other side of the Portage Puddle.

Not so, Hancock is actually known as the socialist enclave of the most liberal Tech employees. Houghton Co. in general is the most liberal in the U.P. except for Marquette ( which is all mine unions and NMU)

I guess that makes sense. Housing is, well..."affordable" over there.

Another way the 1% controls what people see, hear and, to a depressing degree, think.

Getting money out of politics is only the first step in restoring democracy.
