Campaign 2016 -- Don't Let the Perfect Become the Enemy of the Good

Re: Campaign 2016 -- Don't Let the Perfect Become the Enemy of the Good

This would seem to be contradictory to what's happening unless 1) Medicare acceptance does not track with Medicaid (can they be separated?) or 2) There are huge disparities in acceptance rates geographically or by state in order to get the overall average to go up while many providers are dropping it in small pockets of the country. I don't have any knowledge other than my own experiences.

Just to add, there are many situations where it is illegal to refuse Medicare patients. For instance, if you run a training program that accepts money from medicare (which is nearly every residency program as far as I know.)

That explains it then. Medicare is the one for old people only, has nothing to do with Medicaid being turned away.

Medicare is generally for the old but you can attain coverage in other ways like documented disability.

So I just saw that apparently Trump used "Rockin' in the Free World" as the musical backdrop to his announcement. I'd say his campaign is off to an outstanding start, with shades of Reagan and "Born in the USA". :D

Neil Young has already given the Trump campaign a cease and desist, but it's hilarious that these knucks hear "USA!" and a catchy tune and simply don't comprehend the ironic meaning of the song. It's like some (most?) conservatives are stuck on the bottom two levels of Maslow's hierarchy and just don't have the cognitive apparatus to get higher.

I'd say it has more to do with a majority of America not listening to the actual lyrics of any given song. There's a reason a lot of popular songs sound the same, it's basic music theory. Or as Nirvana once pointed out, we like pretty songs, but don't know what they mean.

Or, this is the precise reaction intended. Use a song by an artist who will unquestionably object. Get the expected artist outrage. A little cease and desist for some more publicity. The ubiquitous twitter and internet poutrage. Posts on a college hockey message board. Suddenly there is more discussion about Donald Trump than what he deserves, which is precisely zero. And here I go and contribute to it. I'm ashamed.

Good theory.

I never understood that.

If Jeb Bush comes out in favor of baseball over other sports during any of his interviews, will that make him racist as well?

Jeb! (don't mention the Bush...) has the opposite problem: he isn't racist enough when it comes to the brownies.

I was just referencing an old, semi-famous rant an old troll had on these boards back in 2004 about W - he was racist and the way that the poster knew that is W publicly preferred baseball over other sports. Looking back, he was a top-notch troll. It didn't matter how obvious he was, he still received reply after reply around here because of the insanity of his posts.

Oh wow, I never would've thought about that.

Oh man, speaking of brownies. I had a Clif Bar brownie today for lunch since I didn't have time to actually eat. It was delicious.

Here's a quick way to tell: Does he have an (R) after his name? If so, he's a racist.

Re: Campaign 2016 -- Don't Let the Perfect Become the Enemy of the Good

the Trump constituency will represent a vote of no confidence in the Beltway ruling class of politicians and press.

Who does Pat thinks he belongs to? If ever there was anyone who was a Beltway insider and whose repeated 15 minutes was due to the Beltway, it's Pat. From being a Nixon speechwriter to a McLaughlin Group guest to having a 40-year long run as a DC pundit, Pat's only connection to reality is defined by his connection to the Beltway. His shtick is to run agin' it, but he swims in its bloodstream and its blood flows in him.

The great irony is the context here was the exact opposite, but keep singing yourself to sleep with your lullaby of victimhood.

Speaking of which, apparently Fox has decided the SC shooting "can only be" motivated by, wait for it, a war on Christians. I guess that's their only play, since they've spent 20 years whipping up the very sort of hysteria that Dylann Roof responded to.

Could NHites comment on Hassan? It sounds like she'd be 50/50 to beat Ayotte, particularly in a presidential year. Obviously I'd like her to jump in to give the good guys a leg up on retaking the Senate.

Ultimately this little a-hole is responsible for the murders. However, the right does have to answer for this. When you've spent years talking about how white America is disappearing and America is under seige and blah blah blah, you give nut jobs like this cover to think they've got an audience. Its much like the Oklahoma City bombing. Don't say we're at war with the gubmint and then wonder where somebody got the idea to blow up a building.

Um, TimP is Rover's 2nd ID. His statement was in perfect earnest (he actually agrees with you).
