The personal characteristics of the candidate matter very little. Dubya was a cowardly lout; Reagan was an actor who couldn't do anything without spending three hours in Hair & Makeup. Yet both had images managed with expert care by advisers and technicians twenty times more competent than they. Jeb! has enough money to buy a crafted image and then inundate the public with it 24/7 until it sticks. Optically, he'll be packaged beautifully.

But he can't change his history of positions and Trump has all the ammo he needs. He's going to do a lot of damage to Jeb! before he fades or flounces off.

Jeb lives in a time of wide open internet seeing everything 24/7. This isnt Reagan who could hide his senility or FDR who could hide Polio, everything Jeb says and does will be viral and for the world to see. Unless 9/11 Part II happens no one is going to look past his idiocy.

People who get their news from right wing sources. I would guess the vast majority of my co-workers honestly think PP does 90% abortions, because that's what Hannity and O'Reilly tell them. How could they possibly know any different, when any fact that is juxtaposed to their indoctrination is "liberal bias," and when any independent academic or scientific analysis is "secular humanism!"? It's a perfect, hermetically sealed biosphere. Ailes & Co. managed to create their own alternate reality and lock their voters inside it, just like they planned.

If 90% of Planned Parenthood's business was performing abortions, just imagine how much money this country would save on social programs. ;)

This elections cycle has been utterly fascinating for one reason. Donald Trump's mouth.

Its been amazing the things he said (ok tweets). Just the fact he's said them. He just unloaded on Kelly...again. I'm not a super big fan...but she is probably the best thing on the network. He has thrown for all practical purposes obscenities at her (and in a way the network) and doesn't care one bit. He also seems unmoved in the polls. It kinda does make me wonder if Cloud's assertion of a backdoor Dem play is in the works.

These are apparently going to be some of the most interesting election months of our generation.

Yeah, and I pretty sure he still is. Jeb's really been gaffe prone tho. He's its increasingly looking like he's trying to swim up stream and the comments he's been making (anchor babies) aren't helping.

He hasn't started spending yet. The field is going to look like the Somme once he gets done spending his PAC $$.

Did Mookie read correctly that the Donald made like an Asian and said "we make deal" in accent during IA speech tonight?

If he didn't do it tonight, he will soon.

A bit late to the party as usual because I'm busy doing useful things, but one note on the joecct bashing that went on a few pages back:

You're all a bunch of idiots. I've met Joe in person numerous times, in both personal and working situations. The dude doesn't have an ounce of bad in his heart. Period. End of story. Really, that's not hyperbole. I'm quite sure he's not even capable of being bitter or angry.

So take that for what it's worth. You want to slap the bigot label on him because he disagrees with you (and I disagree with him on it as well), go right ahead. But the bull**** I've seen in the past five pages here is full of infinitely more anger than anything Joe is capable of.

And I'll bet my life on that.

Prattle away, y'all.

Trump has been fascinating, not because we finding out about Trump but because Geiger Counter Trump is finding so many GOP idiots in the deep grass.

not just GOP. whole lotta DEM (reagan democrats?) have been sent to that party as their leaders were able to move those who did the "whites v blacks" anger into "poor v rich" and tally those votes. if the donald is able to attract them back with "us v them" in a general election he can find new supporters. this mexican wall thing plays.

The question isn't about bitterness or anger - those are not the underlying causes of bigotry, nor are they even necessary features of bigotry. Being against SSM is a bigoted position, regardless of whether the person holding that view is Sean Hannity or Mother Teresa.

How would YOU want to be treated by society if you had been born gay? Would you want to be able to have your committed relationship recognized by the government, with all the benefits that accrue? If so, then what part of "Do unto others" do you not get?
