So some pundidiot in the WSJ is stating that Dems had better fear a Bush-Kasich ticket, and a Kasich-Rubio ticket even more! First of all Kasich has little chance of being the nominee, so you might was well say Dems should fear that possible Reagan's Ghost-Jebbers! ticket.

But to the larger point, Bush-Kasich is not a good combo. VP picks rarely win you a state (LBJ being most notable) but what they can do is give you a positive buzz if they help balance out the ticket or signify something new. Biden and Cheney were older DC lifers balancing out youngsters. Gore gave Clinton additional ammo that the Dems were throwing off old dinosaurs and moved on to a new generation.

Bush and Kasich are each other. Two 60 something year old white guys who have been around for decades. Not exactly signifying a "new dawn" nor a pull back from their War on Women (and minorities).

I disagree. Politeness has to do with treating people kindly. PC is finding an issue where none should exist, or renaming something because some bit of its history has caused people to take pause. We've always known that Columbus Day was celebrated in honor of a very flawed man, yet now some think we have to change the name of the holiday. PC is changing the job title of "janitor" to "custodial engineer" because it sounds nicer, or banishing the use of "retard" when it's used in its true and accurate meaning because some have taken to using it in a perjorative manner.

I disagree. The difference between polite and PC is who's getting slagged. It was all OK when only the right people were being insulted, but God help you if you insulted the wrong ones (religious believers, Our Brave Lads, mothers, American Heroes, etc...).

Miller's coming at it from a comedic POV, and comedy is very different -- there should not be any filters on jokes except for: "is it funny?" Part of the humor of cruel humor IS the cruelty, because the joke within the joke is it makes fun of the kind of psycho who would actually say something nasty seriously. So comics get different rules. But Miller is mistaking the censorship of comedy, which is bad, with the normal change over time of what in society you can say. Miller's just mad the world's passed him by, which is part and parcel of the anti-PC shtick. The only people who need to grow a pair are the ones who are upset they can't make racist or sexist jokes anymore. Their world's gone, and good riddance.

There's a lot of cray cray out on the righty tar plains. It's sinking slowly into the sunset, but in the couple decades we have left we're still going to get a lot of entertainment out of it.

And who knows -- the next strain of conservatism may be even more virulent, so we should just enjoy what we've got.

That article talks about Walker and Rubio. Fact is, Cruz is even more extreme. And they're all hypocrites.
