Re: Campaign 2016 - A Trump l'oeil? Kepler's Laws of Election Motions? Ship of Fools

In election cycles, people get too caught up in the flavor of the moment.

Bernie won't win. I promise. Hillary was never as strong as her early numbers. Hillary is also not in trouble now. She will have a fight on her hands if Biden enters...otherwise the nomination won't be close.
Yeah, Hillary isn't in trouble with her numbers plummeting and Biden possibly getting in the race. Right. LOCK.

This is a little bit in the weeds, but it shows why Trump is so popular.

He's calling out a professional grifter GOP pollster who goes around conducting focus groups to tell his clients what they want to hear. Given that Trump has produced e-mails with the guy trying to arrange a meeting, and Luntz has nothing backing him up, I know who I believe!

"He called me incessantly to meet with me. Finally, I said, 'Look, let's get rid of this guy,'" Trump said of Luntz. "He's on a lot of television programs, I guess I've got to see him. And he wanted me to hire him on a commercial basis, meaning hire him to work on various — you know, you see, I have many companies."

Trump said he rejected Luntz's pitch.

"I said, 'Frank, when I make deals I make them myself," Trump said. "I don't need focus groups or whatever it is you do.' I said, 'Frank, if you were so good at this, you'd be me.'"

Trump had one of his executive assistants, Katie, forward Business Insider the emails he said he received from Luntz's office.

I'd also note that Trump's polling has gone UP post debate except for one questionable Boston Herald poll in NH that I think we'll find out got commissioned by the Bush campaign! :D

Luntz is a clown. Always has been. I can't believe he gets paid for what he does, but then he works for FOX and feeds the machine so.............

Interesting observation.

If the Democrats invested every dime they had to engineer the perfect agent provocateur to infiltrate and unhinge the GOP they could not come up with anything like this.

This is not new and novel. Heck, they've spent that dime in the past.

See: a Bush, a Clinton, and a brash, boisterous, billionaire provocateur injected to pull votes from the Bush.

See: 1992 ... 2.0

Perot drew from both R and D. Trump is different because he seems to draw almost exclusively from R -- the comparable case would be Nader. If he runs third party, it would be George Wallace.

BH has Bernie +7. But, for Pete's sake, the primary is 6 months away. Are we making a mountain out of a molehill?

I'd be very skeptical of a Herald poll, and not because of Bernie-Hill. They are the ONLY people who have Trump going down in NH post debate.

Re: Campaign 2016 - A Trump l'oeil? Kepler's Laws of Election Motions? Ship of Fools

Why! Why? Can't somebody run a campaign ad like this down here??

https://youtu.be/DG6fhub9HDQ

Two governors ago we had a guy who ran ads like that and won. GI Joe dolls and all. Then everyone made fun of us for actually electing Jesse Ventura to office.

And, if this is the full segment from Last Week Tonight, then you'll see some crazy/bad campaign ads for judicial elections. https://youtu.be/poL7l-Uk3I8

I think he's reverse woofing. The Gods don't like that and I wish he'd stop.

I believe Trump's label for him was "a low-class slob". :D :D :D

Which is funny, as Trump may be the lowest class slob I've ever seen.

"Class is an aura of confidence that is being sure without being cocky. Class has nothing to do with money. Class never runs scared. It is self-discipline and self-knowledge. It's the sure-footedness that comes with having proved you can meet life." ― Ann Landers

Good find.

The era of apologies where we've found ourselves is just ridiculous, but it's more a result of people getting overly worked up about mostly silly little things of no consequence, thus exacerbating the "need" for a public apology for transgressions against matters of true substance. By then we're all so immunized to apologies that they've simply lost their impact.

“The main problem with the present day inquisition squad is that many of our “open-minded” watch guards are among our most close-minded citizens.”

“The empathy class’s urge to intercept the slings and arrows that oft times are ignored by the very people they’re intended for is staggering.”

Yes, Mr. Miller, yes indeed.
