It's a college hockey board. Obviously it's not a 50/50 split like the national political setup.
Yeah, my post was not about the obviously leftward tilt of the posters on the board. It was intended more of an amusing aside about the notion that if 50% of the people would rather vote for a lying, evil, stupid nut job, than you, what message does that deliver to you?

Re: Campaign 2016 - A Trump l'oeil? Kepler's Laws of Election Motions? Ship of Fools

Getting back to comparing news shows. Watching O'Reilly tonight he had a segment on the aftermath of the shooting in Virginia yesterday. His conclusion was that the shooter (and all recent shooters) are not religious and are atheists or agnostics. His argument being that progressive secularism is the core reason that these shootings are happening. The Medical Doctor he had on (forget his name but he's on Fox all the time) agreed with him. He had a clinical psychologist on explaining to him that the similarity between all of them is mental illness and religion has nothing to do with it. O'Reilly won the argument. It is his show.

And that is ****ing nuts.

I guarantee Rachel has NEVER said anything so irresponsible on her show. And she has way less audience to influence.

Don't look now, but Jeb! is going in the wrong direction.

So is the Hildebeast. And the Q-poll respondents aren't exactly enamored with her, Trump & Jeb. :)

Clinton leads the Democratic field with 45 percent, down from 55 percent July 30, with U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont at 22 percent and Biden at 18 percent. No other candidate tops 1 percent with 11 percent undecided.

This is Sanders’ highest tally and closest margin. Clinton tops the Democrats’ “no way” list with 11 percent.

“Liar” is the first word that comes to mind more than others in an open-ended question when voters think of Clinton. “Arrogant” is the word for Trump and voters say “Bush” when they think of Bush.

I think for months, if not a year, everyone heard this was gonna be Bush v. Clinton, and the snark about "When the hell did we reach 1992?" and irritation with constant gridlock, leads to both having lower than expected numbers

Neither one has any influence on me, why, I wouldn't watch that crap if you paid me.

Those Quinnipiac polls are a riot for both sides. The most popular Presidential candidate in the country, for either side, is....Ben Carson??!?! If the voting public that shows up in Nov 2016 feels more positive about Ben Carson than anybody else, a lot of people are in trouble! ;)

I also liked the Florida poll that had George Pataki at 10%...

Sounds like a call for more college hockey expansion into the southern climes. We're doing our part here in Arizona!

They'll still have those pesky admission requirements.

(I know, that's unfair. Southern schools don't actually have admissions requirements...)

The calendar has to seem like it's just crawling along for Hillary. Back in the old days when campaigns weren't nearly as active for nearly as long, Hillary probably would have gotten to the nomination without nearly as much difficulty. Time is not her friend.

Hey, wouldn't it liven up college hockey to have an SEC conference and all the drama they bring? The talk in AZ is about how we wish we could keep the top prospect in the nation here in AZ at ASU, but it doesn't look likely. Not that long ago the thought of the top prospect being from AZ would have been outlandish.

Re: Campaign 2016 - A Trump l'oeil? Kepler's Laws of Election Motions? Ship of Fools

I'm saying they are on both sides. However when disgruntled negros burn their own neighborhoods and shoot cops it is enlightened and when moron southie punks roll a homeless Hispanic guy they are offspring of pol pot.

When you ignore the idiocy in your own house or worse yet justify it, any concrete argument you try to enlist falls flat. And worst of all you help fire up the idiots on the other side.

Us vs them is the same whether it is white/black, rich/poor, or citizen/illegal

This is true. But I think the point is we don't want to encourage outrage in either extreme. While your example of inner city violent outrage should be unacceptable...so should verbal 'denegration of others' outrage. Let's chill out and discuss this...the article infers that a Trump presidency will not support that outcome.

Oh, God, please don't say this out loud.

The good news is hockey is a $$ loser so the SEC and ESPN have no incentive to ruin it.

You know my long term plan is for D-1 to get to UNM just in time for our move to Santa Fe. :)

That'd be a hoot! We could extend our rivalry to NM vs. AZ hockey! Can't say I've ever heard a peep about hockey at UNM though. If they could play at The Pit, that'd be awesome.

From my perspective I'm not sure which is worse, east coast hockey snobbery or SEC snobbery. To me it'd be fun to see the two clash in the world of college hockey.

Santa Fe is beautiful. Seemed a little too touristy and upscale when I was there, but I'm sure living there you stay away from touristy things like residents do in other places.

We've only visited once but we were sold. The two touristy sections are the mall outside the Palace of the Governors and the art section on Canyon Road. We've done both and wouldn't be hanging around there as residents (neither of us is particularly into art, and as you probably guess my assessment of art is like classical music: everything's crap since 1905).

Is there any UA / UNM rivalry? Dr. Mrs. Kepler went to UA and she considers UNM to be of roughly the same academic and athletic importance as Cornellians regard, say, Wells College.

He strikes again!!

@dick_nixon: Anyone -- any candidate of any party -- who says his or her goal is to advance freedom around the world, run. Run away. Run like hell.

I'm not aware of much of a rivalry between NM and AZ sports wise in any sport. You'd think U of A basketball and UNM basketball might becomes rivals, given the success of both programs at times, but it's never developed that I'm aware of. But, see, I'm an ASU guy, so I guess your U of A connection is another rivalry we've got going. Territorial Cup Series winners in Tempe 3 years running baby!
