The public always wanted more efficient transportation, just because they didn't know exactly how it was going to be created or what form it was going to take doesn't mean the supply created the demand for it, or that there wasn't a demand for it (more efficient transportation) before it (the specific model) existed.

Earliest apology for failure in history. :)

I love the Herald's style. It's like RWNM talking points Mad Libs.
But do you think the Globe would report that the Patrick admin is going to leave a problem for the taxpayers of the Commonwealth? Not every paper can agree with you.

The Globe was printing ECAC box scores in the 80s. That alone justifies its existence.

I don't mind the Herald giving its people want they want. That's a very lucrative business model. But I always wonder whether a few righties who are a little more on the ball than most are sometimes embarrassed by how transparent they are. At least WSJ hides it a little.

Now that the fiscally responsible party is in total control of the legislative branch. Here's the 3 proposals from Mitch and the Bone Man.

Boehner and McConnell have mentioned three proposals that have any significant fiscal effects:

1. “renewing our commitment to repeal ObamaCare.” The Congressional Budget Office confirmed last year that repealing Obamacare would increase the budget deficit by $109 billion over a decade.

2. “a proposal to restore the traditional 40-hour definition of full-time employment.” The CBO measured this, too. It would increase deficits by $73 billion over a decade.

3. Repeal the medical device tax (a proposal missing from the op-ed, but reported to top the list of Congressional priorities). This would increase the deficit by $29 billion over a decade.

Where are they going to get the money???????????????????????????

#3 on that list was presented to both chambers of Congress by entire MN Congressional delegation as soon as they read what was in the PPACA... after first voting in favor of that bill they hadn't yet read.

When did you graduate from Cornell? I'm trying to figure if we ever crossed paths at either Lynah, Walker or the Grimy Garden.

85. Sadly, I never got to Walker. From the pics I would have loved it.

# 3 on that list also received around 32 Democrat votes in the current session of Congress when it passed the House this year. The House also passed a different bill with over 300 votes in favor that was never brought to the Senate floor.

I know that. I don't care. What are they going to do to pay for it? I'm sick and tired of the GOP whining all the time about the deficit and debt and then spending exactly the same as the Democrats.

To be fair, the Republicans spend on toys for their friends while reducing their donors' taxes and increasing everyone else's debt. So they've got that going for them.

Right. Which means Obama is more fiscally conservative then they are. He won't get credit for that, but it's true.

More election coverage.

If that doesn't stick in your craw if you're a Democrat then nothing will.

gotten better for whom? all the 20-somethings still living at home working at $12.50 an hour jobs because no one is hiring given all the additional complicated regulations that have been passed since 2008?

all the savers and fixed income investors getting 0.50% interest income?

The economy since 2008 has had a few winners and a lot of losers, and the aggregate statistics mask that effect.

50+ months of positive job growth, including the last eight with over 200,000 per, but no one's hiring.

Silly. Relieving the American consumer and big business of those burdensome regulations will spur unprecedented consumer spending and corporate profitability, spurring GDP growth to record levels, which will in turn boost federal tax revenues, thus balancing the budget and heading us on our way toward paying down the national debt.

That is, until the Republicans give all that increased revenue and more back to the millionaires via tax cuts.

Cuts to Medicare, SS, food stamps and other safety net programs. Have you not been paying attention?

I guess that's one way to rid the country of Republicans, have them cut off funding to the programs keeping their base alive.
