Stock futures jump at the breaking news minus all details. Can't wait for the joint statement tomorrow when it's just a reduction in tariffs to like 80%, guarantees it kills every small business in America, and the market shits itself again.
 
That literally no framework details came out with this release make it almost certain that this was just an agreement to continue talks.
 
I don't think anyone has been asking why prices are more here...pretty easy to know why.

I admit I dont know much about de minimis but not including that seems problematic especially for consumers.
 
The U.S. de minimis exemption, which allowed duty-free entry for certain low-value imports, has been eliminated for China and Hong Kong, effective May 2, 2025. This means that imports from these countries, previously qualifying for the exemption (valued at $800 or less), are now subject to applicable duties.

If we had a Congress that cared they would be telling him he can't do this. That is under the purview of Congress not the Executive...
 
We no longer have a legislative branch. It's interesting that it was Dump who found that loophole. In all of history legislators worked independently and would destroy the President of their own party if necessary.
