Business, Economics, and Taxes: Eat Cereal for Dinner

AMD's plans to fab chips at TSMC Arizona pre-dates Dump 2.0 and can almost certainly be tied to the fallout from COVID - encouraging greater supply chain diversity, especially in critical industries. Nvidia has plans to fab some of their chips at the TSMC Arizona plant as well.

Oh, and if you're wondering what happened to once-mighty Intel:

Basically, they stopped innovating about 10-15 years ago and screwed themselves out of the smartphone and tablet boom. These days, Qualcomm and Broadcom have filled their void.

Watching no journalist (in clips) push back on Navarro and Lutnick as they said "we need to build chips here" about The CHIPS Act and how we don't have the supplies was migraine inducing.

Wasn't that the entire purpose of the CHIPS act? I don't understand. Biden was the one who did it, and now they come in and say he didn't do anything and whine we're not making them here? Did the Chips act not meet the moment?

I wasn't even really thinking of Florida. I was thinking about all the places along the Canadian border, the UP and Upstate New York especially.
Not sure how accurate this estimate is, but it appears that the UP's GDP is about $10B. And that tourism is about $1.5B. So any reduction would be felt.

That being said, Michigan will be far harder hit by the lack of commercial traffic in Detroit than tourism. But the folk up north that rely a lot on tourism and voted to cut it are getting what they voted for.

The Gordie Howe Interational Bridge is suddenly looking like a much more expensive investment than originally planned.
