Business, Economics, and Taxes: Eat Cereal for Dinner

IRS, thanks to the increased staffing and enforcement budgets from the Biden admin, has collected over $1 billion since October in past due taxes from wealthy and corporate cheats.

This is why our billionaires are lining up behind The Convict.

They don't care if we become fascist if they can keep stealing.

The German rich made a similar calculation. How'd that work out for them?

My employer is touting a $12B stock buyback executed in the first six months of the year, and they’re gunning for more.

Jfc this ATT breach

fine these fuckers into oblivion

I’m so fucking tired of this. This week alone I’ve received breach notices from Ticketmaster and a radiology clinic

In the short term, it worked out great. Buying up Jewish businesses at Pfennigs on the Reichsmark and looting the art collections all over Europe was terrific business.

Long term, it worked out well for Swiss bankers...

Oh come on it went terribly for all those German companies that supported the Nazis. Who these days has ever heard of companies like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Siemens, BASF, Bayer, Allianz, Bosch, Deutsche Bank or Continental?

Charles Lindbergh...

Kepler's right though...there is a reason that corporate media is going after Biden. Look who runs/owns those networks!

The companies, yeah.

The principals, maybe not so much. It would be interesting to methodically track all the rich who collaborated with Hitler, Tojo, and Mussolini and see what happened to them, personally. I imagine a lot of them died in the bombings. (I doubt any of them risked themselves or their families actually fighting, and they probably bribed their way out of legal action after the war.)

Oh my no, they got themselves dead.

Hitler's Wealthy Backers: How German Elite Facilitated The Nazi Rise | HistoryExtra

“This was a bunch of powerful men overestimating their political intelligence and their capacities, and very much underestimating the technical intelligence of the Nazis and the ruthlessness and brutality with which they were going to dismantle and destroy the state, and use their power against their conservative allies.”

Some of those conservative allies, like von Schleicher, met their end in the Night of the Long Knives of June 1934. This was a time of realisation for the German elite, as Malinowski says: “Now they understood that this monster they had helped create had come to a Frankenstein moment where it could no longer be tamed, and was redirecting its violence against its own creators.”

This was a far cry from how ‘hiring’ Hitler was supposed to have turned out. “The elite had sought to tame political extremism by binding it into the system, softening it, giving it more responsibility. The understanding was that when Hitler and other Nazi leaders were ministers and responsible for steering part of the economy or universities or whatever part of society, they would somehow calm down and react like normal statesmen.

“But this never happened. Hitler never reacted as a statesman in the traditional sense. The Nazis were playing an entirely new game in terms of ideology and of making the unfathomable fathomable.

Yeah, deflation is generally bad and occurs when an economy of scale is already in correction. Companies usually respond to falling prices (meaning reduced demand) by slowing down their production to address the oversupply, leading to layoffs and further economic contraction. When this is severe, it can easily devolve into a doom loop known as a deflationary spiral.

Yes, it's apparently impacting all Windows machines running CrowdStrike. A fix has been deployed, but quite a mess nevertheless - airlines, banks, hospitals, TMT, and 911 call centers were all impacted. I had a client cancel a workshop this morning because of it.
