It amazes me that the company that used to sell full houses through a mail order catalog somehow missed out on online retail.
Blockbuster could've bought Netflix for $50m in 2000, but Netflix was bleeding money at the time and the Blockbuster CEO thought they were a niche fad. He then went on to ink a pricey partnership with Enron Broadband, which he had to end months later when Enron, well...Enroned.
It's a tale as old as time. Upper management gets old, fat, lazy, and just milks the existing business model through a long, slow death. As long as the execs get paid, fck the employees.
