It amazes me that the company that used to sell full houses through a mail order catalog somehow missed out on online retail.

Blockbuster could've bought Netflix for $50m in 2000, but Netflix was bleeding money at the time and the Blockbuster CEO thought they were a niche fad. He then went on to ink a pricey partnership with Enron Broadband, which he had to end months later when Enron, well...Enroned.

It's a tale as old as time. Upper management gets old, fat, lazy, and just milks the existing business model through a long, slow death. As long as the execs get paid, fck the employees.

Elizabeth Warren calls Jay Powell a “dangerous man” to his face and said she’ll not vote for him if Biden renominates him for Federal Reserve Chairman. I thought Powell was doing well, but if Warren isn’t on board, I must be missing something.

I think Yellen is on board though, which probably is going to carry a lot of wright.

Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp services took a sh*t early this morning and are still down this afternoon.

Reports say even the internal network for Facebook employees is down.

Someone on Twitter pointed out that this "outage" comes on the heels of an explosive 60 Minutes report last night that the computerized algorithm was geared toward promoting right-wing propaganda despite Zuckerberg stating otherwise.

I know I've seen my ads shift to more right wing leaning ads (Breitbart as a recommended for me link?) despite me being bluer than the dog from Blues Clues.

Let's not assign malice to something as simple as people screwing up their BGP advertisements.

Expedia is apparently bending lots of people over on credits they issued for trips canceled due to the pandemic. Say they can't find your original tickets & won't honor the credits, even if you have emails that they say they will. My dad one of many to recently discover this.
