This is why IT is being run by dumb people. If your tech is ahead of your security it's not safe to put into production. Yet, we do it anyway. I weep for my profession.
Well yeah. Security is a profit blocker.

Black hats are starting to target manufacturers, too. A lot of mfg operational tech is now "smart" and on the network, to be monitored, updated, and managed just like any IT asset. OT is 10+ years behind IT in proactively managing security vulnerabilities with patching schedules, etc.
I thought Stuxnet made the light bulb come on?
Light Bulbs NEVER COME ON for the profit spreadsheet guys. I worked for one for 25 years and IT was "always" overhead to be cut and ignored. Never a strategic value.
My program just decided to sink an entire quarter into nothing but tech debt, because it always gets demoted below the line on the priority list.
Violating all ethical and moral standards is the cornerstone of business. Shoot every MBA into the sun. It's getting a Masters in being an as-shole.
Yeah, the EHR I'm working on now is the platform for our new larger company's EHR, and we've basically spend 8 months and counting shoring up technical debt. I spent 8 weeks working on a project that was so old that no one at Epic even remembered how to do it.
I truly think the modern mba is poison. Every time a talented young person I hired goes to grad school I pray it’s public health or a master or science (what I did)
The trick is not to use any of those tools and just wing it.

Running Jira queries on non-closed non-backlog is either hilarious or devastating, depending on your personality.

I like the bug that's been sitting there for 10 years and yeah I'm not ever going to fix that.
Anybody not on the corporate side of the business is P OS, you should know that by now.Light Bulbs NEVER COME ON for the profit spreadsheet guys. I worked for one for 25 years and IT was "always" overhead to be cut and ignored. Never a strategic value.

This is where it’s actually nice to be working in a niche where the product works or (wrong) people die. We don’t put up with that attitude, nor even people who tolerate that attitude.I like the bug that's been sitting there for 10 years and yeah I'm not ever going to fix that.
Running Jira queries...
There's (one of) your problem(s). Jira sucks, but every organization stuck in 2005 is still using it.
