He’s on a roll. Going after Vindmann, tweeting pic of a gun near his Diet Coke cans, using Pepe the frog meme, and teeeting with “88” to speak nazi

I saw Ted Cruz on Twitter was whining that all companies who were bailing on Twitter Advertising were against free speech. He went to Harvard. He has a law degree. He hasn't actually read The Constitution of the United States apparently.

Harvard is where all the rich stupid go to get degrees.

Saw people saying a lot of them have lost followers and a debate ensued over whether it was Elon deleting bots or people deactivating their accounts. My experience is that it's the latter. My own follower count has remained steady because, while a couple dozen people who were following me have deactivated I've been followed by even more ladies from OnlyFans (hey, great job going after those spammers and scammers, Elon!). Meanwhile the main list I created and follow has dropped from over 300 accounts to 266. These weren't bots. These were people I either know personally or are celebrities/brands that are quite real. I have also noticed a major slowdown in traffic on said list. A few weeks ago chatter was lively with hundreds of tweets every hour. It was impossible to keep up with at times. Now there are times where there might be a couple dozen tweets in an hour, mostly from the politically active in the UK. Unless there is a live sporting event the list is fairly quiet. I've also noticed Twitter loads very slowly on my laptop, when it loads at all. Not a good sign.

And as has been pointed out, Elon is in for a rude awakening when Google and Apple come for their cut of the $8 Twitter Blue subscriptions.

Eventually the coyote is going to look down.

I honestly thought it was higher...

The amount of spam dms I get now is like triple what it was before. But I thought Elon was getting rid of the bots!

I notice that in the past when I blocked someone I would receive a message saying Twitter would note the content I was blocking and use that information to improve the algorithm. Now I just get a message asking if I want to unblock them. Um...no. I just blocked them. I don't want to unblock them.

I spent 2 minutes trying to figure how to close my account, got bored with it and just deleted the app. Meh. How many others out there like me are there, adding to the abandonment rate?

I haven’t really noticed much difference other than not as many tweets but I have no idea who is actually sweeting less. I follow so many it’s hard to tell. Musk should have reached a settlement with twitter instead of wasting $40B.

I’ve noticed more glitches where muted or blocked accounts will have their tweets show up in a quote tweet where before it would either say “this is from an account you have muted” or “this content is not available.” Of course, since Musk tweets a million times a day, conveniently it’s him I end up seeing.

It’s also breaking in threads of very popular tweets. It will unroll upwards and jump around when you try to scroll.

That's the way to do it. If you delete your account then after 30 days someone could take your name and pretend to be you. That makes it very easy to commit fraud, especially with the cybersecurity at Twitter pretty much nonexistent now. Just keep your name but delete the app and stop tweeting.

Twitter is degrading at a very very rapid rate. I expect it to be MySpace within a month.

Too many corporate entities are on it still. Twitter is still the unofficial agreed upon short form information provider. When agencies like traffic reports, local news, and socially active brands start moving to other short form platforms, then Twitter will die.

TL;DR: Not until KwikTrip@mastodon.social is a legit account will Twitter be dead.

*edit* I take that back. Find which platform the sex workers are moving to, for they're the ones who truly control the direction (ie: VCRs vs LaserDisk, BluRay vs HD-DVD, Facebook vs MySpace).
