8,000 jobs at $20/hr (average) is $320M just in direct pay. Double that for benefits, taxes, insurance, etc. and you need three quarters of a billion in revenue just to make payroll.

if you think you’re open 365 days per year, that’s $2M per day. Even if you could charge $30 per head to come look at a giant eyesore, that’s 68,500 people every single day of the year. 20 NFL teams average less than that per game - in major cities with long-term fan bases 8 times per year.

He’d better not be asking for one red cent of public funding or tax breaks for this monstrosity.

What is your point? I don't care who supplies L.L. Bean now. My point is Worcester Wreaths USED TO supply L.L. Bean. L.L. Bean ended that relationship, and Worcester created a scam of a charity to buy wreaths from their for-profit business to make up the difference.

he's obviously not going to employ 8,000 people, even if this dumb idea does get built. Especially after all the construction jobs dried up. He's making up some bogus "multiplier" to account for the additional jobs that would result from an influx of tourists to the area (they need a hotel room, and places to go out to eat, new workers in the area need to buy groceries, take their car to the mechanic, and send kids to daycare, etc). There is no way it would actually add up to anywhere near 8,000 jobs though.

My guess is he’s trying to fleece investors or increase the value of some of the land they own in that area and sell high before the project falls through. As long as they don’t use public money I don’t see any problem with it and given how economically disadvantaged the area is the project won’t make things any worse.

If the Dems could strategize at all that would be in every ad that is aired on any network within spitting distance of old people. (i.e. everywhere) Time to paint these fuckwits as the people hating pricks that they are.

I don't know what's more amazing about the story. That Musk was able to drop $3 Billion on a whim to purchase that much stock. That former Twitter founder Jack Dorsey has only 1/5th of the stock that Musk does. Or that Trump could have at least a 2.5% seat at the table (same as Jack Dorsey) if he had put the stupid "Stop The Steal" money towards that instead of those frivolous lawsuits.
