The bubble will only burst when some billionaire gets tired of propping up the system and figures a way to profit off the pop. He will announce that the emperor has no clothes and the market will tumble. Until then everything keeps chugging along even as countless people get laid off, become homeless and decrease the surplus population.

Except crashing the economy is part of the plan. Kinda hard to create their neofeudal society without it.

When the extra shifts and extra part time jobs during the holidays that people usually rely on to help them through the rest of winter don’t materialize, people will be lucky to make it through February or March. And by that time, the rough holiday numbers will be out and the layoffs will quickly follow. After the layoffs, things will spiral out quickly.

Yeah...add on that in 3 days SNAP and WIC run out and you are probably right.

The funnest part about it is that the Congress actually put in an emergency fund so food WOULD NEVER be used as a weapon in budget negotiations. Yet, here we are. The Republicans have done it again.

We have to negotiate with them to get any morsel. Yet, they NEVER negotiate in good faith. They do not have to negotiate with us for anything. Why is this different? Because they are willing and able to burn the house down. They do not care about The Constitution. The People. The Troops. The Institutions. The rule of law. Any of it. Just the money. They only care about the money. And we the people let them have it cause we're stupid enough to believe we'll be one of them one day.

The dumbest country on Earth.

My cousin and her boyfriend both get SNAP. And since she has two children (with two other men) she also gets WIC. But hey, this is what she voted for. The supreme irony is that an offshoot of her vote is that her great-aunt will pay less in taxes. 👍
And if you think my godmother is going to take any of that largesse and give a dime of financial assistance to anyone else in the family, I have some lucrative real estate opportunities to discuss with you.

This has been the game plan for at least 200 years.

It's crazy that identity politics is so much more important than taking care of your self interest.

Republicans could end the shutdown by suspending the filibuster and passing the clean CR. They already have 3 times this year. But they see political advantage in dragging it out and hoping the Democrats capitulate and enrage their base. Forty two million people losing food assistance be damned.

If they do that The Shutdown ends and The Epstein Files get released...

The thing is, why should The Dems negotiate...Trump can just decide to not abide by it thanks to SCOTUS. There is no deal to ne made. Members of the GOP said as much when this started.

I agree. The Dems do not have to do anything. That's why Thune getting up in front of everyone and losing his shit over it makes no sense.

The GOP should just get up and say "let them eat cake" and all go home until the 2026 elections. There really is nothing left for them to do.

If Thune really cared he would nuke the filibuster again and pass the budget.
 
That's why they should just say, "Let them eat cake" and go home. Johnson has had the entire House on extended vacation and has denied a duly elected rep from Arizona her place in the House.

She can't even do what Johnson is telling everyone to do because she can't do anything until she is sworn in.

Oh, and the way the Social Security hotline works now everyone pretty much has to go to their Rep to fix any problems with their benefits. Basically there's no one to call anymore. I'd blame Obama just because but this is really Trump's fault.
