Re: Business, Economics, and Tax Policy 8: Bezos Takes Over the World

Interesting article about how people diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes have resorted to using outdated hardware and some cracked software to get their insulin pumps to work "as intended" to allow them the freedom to live.

https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2019/04/looping-created-insulin-pump-underground-market/588091/

Most people living with Type 1 diabetes have to plan their whole day in advance, or be ready to mathematically calculate if the extra steps they took or the extra bite of cake will throw their blood sugar levels off, or even be awoken in the middle of the night when their blood sugar is too low from not calculating correctly.

So hackers realized that an old model insulin pump had a flaw that allowed it to be hacked, which lead to the hackers realizing that the pump can adjust insulin levels on the fly if it's given the proper data. And since some Type 1 patients have glucose monitors under their skin, all that was needed was an interface to take the realtime readings and convert it to data for the pump to adjust the levels in real-time.

Also shows what's wrong with the Pharmaceutical industry with their insistence to not adapt a system like this by now.

Don't have time to get into it, but I just had to switch medical suppliers for my Continuous Blood Glucose Monitor because the old supplier and insurance tried to do a "forced upgrade" on me to the tune of about $1200 out of pocket... It's a ****ing scam

That's quite a crew of intellectual ne'er-do-wells.

Time for Laura to chain herself to half a door again.

Re: Business, Economics, and Tax Policy 8: Bezos Takes Over the World

Flaggy will be here any minute to complain "FREEZE PEACH!" or something...

Re: Business, Economics, and Tax Policy 8: Bezos Takes Over the World

What the hell is Freeze Peach?

Does that just refer to the fact that those incels have been frozen out of getting peach?

Re: Business, Economics, and Tax Policy 8: Bezos Takes Over the World

Say the two words aloud. Now say them together and quickly, dx.

It's like limp biscuit. It's what Flaggy does with the others in the Proud Boys.
