Chiinese Social Credit Score? Revoking access to banking? More likely big tech will stop your ability to buy and sell or even barter - only conservatives that is - meaning you won't be able to get food. And that's only when it starts to get bad as they are looking to hijack your shadow. Not good.

"Big Tech" is the new "Deep State" for the neo-Nazi crowd, isn't it?

I think it's the new "Banking." It's those funny-looking whites who don't agree with them so there must be something wrong with them (bankers were Jews, techies are atheists).

Ah yes, that's right. Zuckerberg is one of (((them))).

Big tech has a lot of problems but the solutions are all things the right claim to hate (nationalizing/regulating Facebook/youtube and other tech platforms as a commodity). One of those Charlottesville nazis actually called for that after getting banned which was funny and ironic.

Nazis have never had a problem with nationalizing things that would benefit them once they are in control.

Well yeah that's kinda the point, these people are incredibly inconsistent in their beliefs and they only care about the "left" doing these things.

Naziism was always about owning the libs, where the libs are any group other than straight, white men and the intellectually boring women willing to go along with it for "security" reasons.

There's a drop shadow group -- the Steve Bannons -- who do it to be outrageous and noticed: JHS kids acting up. But the core group -- the Stephen Millers -- are serious as a heart attack and it's not about us. They're sincere and seriously mentally ill. That's probably about 5% of the general US population. It probably always was; we just weren't aware of how many there were until one of them was elected president.

Disagree a bit on the %'s. If Goopers are regularly winning 46% of the vote in Prez and mid term elections, at least 40% of those voters are card carrying Nazi's. The remaining 5-6% are most likely not but are willing to accept Nazism as the cost of doing business in order to achieve a different aim (tax cuts for themselves for example).

There are a lot of sociopaths on the right -- there always have been -- but it's not 40% or even 40% of 46% (18%) of the electorate. Most people on the right have good intentions but are self-medicating through ideology to justify their politics. In some corner of their brains they think kids in cages is "the price we have to pay." There is much thumpty-thump, "you need me on that wall" posturing about "tough choices" and "unsentimental realism."

In actuality, these are rationalizations for why they turn their heads so they don't see the torture of innocents and the constitution going up in flames. They have a conscience so they need something to sleep at night and the ones who don't drink themselves into a stupor use that ideology.

Flag is probably, on balance, a psychopath. His delight in cruelty is too strong for it to only derive solely from stupidity.

Sic and Rube and joe and even ohsoclever mookie are fundamentally good people whose autobiography has led them to bad political preferences, and who manage the cognitive dissonance of having humanity but enabling evil by gobbling the opiates of conservatism.

Gotta agree to disagree here Kep. Republicans didn't make people racist. They always were, the GOP just gave them an outlet to get in touch with their hate loudly and proudly. They didn't make Boomers whiners and narcissists, they just told them that whining and narcissism were good things! Were most Trump supporters, which is now synonymous with "Republicans" and "conservatives" fundamentally good people, Chump wouldn't still have an approval rating in the low 40's after the clown show that his Presidency. He'd be getting primaried by some John Kasich type who would lose the fundies but win over the country club crowd and pose a serious challenge. None of that is actually happening.

Its a cult, Kep. And they are all in on it including Sic and any other apologist you'd like to name.

That's not how it works. People are complicated. The vast majority of people's politics are determined by factors outside their control: their parents, their region, their profession, their influences.

Racism is a problem in the US and an out of control wildfire on the right, but racism is yet another one of those factors that gets imposed on people, typically when they are so young they have no resistance. If you and I had been raised or otherwise highly influenced by racists we would probably be racists, or we would at least be the garden variety Republican who is unmoved by the fact that their party exploits racism at ever turn, whether you want to call that racism or just the moral cowardice for which racism is not a deal breaker.

For that matter, I'm sure we have our own brand of moral cowardice that we live alongside and rarely recognize. Our bombs are murdering Yemeni babies every day yet neither you nor I are doing squat about it. To be human is to be insufficient.

I'll stand by 5% of GOP voters being sociopaths and the rest being dulled, either by mental or moral deficiency, from taking responsibility for their choices. And while we don't have the mouth-breathing murderers on the left these days, we have plenty of fools too who are only on our side by chance and who could just as easily be part of the Great Contemptible They.

So my Uncle is the CEO of a company whose products are made in China, as are nearly all of his competitors. Prices are already high and he said the trump tariffs are poised to add 45%.
So he’s already arranged to move to factories in Vietnam. Changeover happens already this summer.
