BU Terriers 2018-19: Albie in Charge

If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle!

Can play that game all day long. BC has lost 12 games this year either by a goal or a multiple goal loss as result of empty net goal(s). In the end that just means you're not good enough.

Mookie needs something to talk about :)

I GOT NOWHERE ELSE TO GO!!! (Obscure movie quote)

Re: BU Terriers 2018-19: Albie in Charge

Well, looks like the Terriers squeak out home ice with a win at Maine tomorrow as a result of Lowell's tie at UVM. :) They were going to play UML anyway...it was just a matter of where since they were both locked into 4/5 after Northeastern's win tonight.

Lowell-Vermont as a 2-2 tie after OT! - Home ice is a possibility with a win in Maine tomorrow night.

Re: BU Terriers 2018-19: Albie in Charge

Welp, that wasn't what we were looking for.

On the bright side, I live much closer to Tsongas than HAA...

Embarrassing effort

Yes it was. I went to the game. Maine played very well. Didn't give BU much time and space. However, BU didn't show up defensively and made Maine look like a Frozen Four team. Bu played with no urgency whatsoever. I don't understand what is wrong with both BU and BC.

Re: BU Terriers 2018-19: Albie in Charge

What a disaster. #NotYourFather’sBU

Yup. Drove home from Myrtle Beach...got in at 1:30 a.m. and watched the game that I had DVR'd. The only word that comes to mind is embarrassing. Defense standing around, reaching instead of moving their feet, and just a general malaise. Inexplicable for a team that needed a win to secure home ice.

At this point there's not much left to say. Regardless of how "good" the individual talent is, the total is less than the sum of its parts. They're just not very good. Period. And for those who say it's a matter of effort, well, effort is part of ability. The greatest players also give the greatest effort.

Taking NOTHING away from Maine. I don't want anyone to interpret this post as they "should have won easily because it was 'just' Maine." Nothing would be further from the truth. But 6-0? With NO effort, sense of urgency or even seeming to be disappointed? This was just pathetic.

Embarrassing effort

Let’s face it the “unbeaten” streak was UConn, 2 over Vermont by one goal including one in an empty net, PC tie where they were very badly outplayed, and Merrimack. The only encouraging part in that run was Oettinger. Team has been bad all year,

agree- and after he gave up the first bad goal last night we were done
This team just cannot score- No production from 3-4 lines all season

Re: BU Terriers 2018-19: Albie in Charge

Wait, they got shut out by a goalie making his THIRD start this season!? *facepalm*

Hate to break it to you, that was McGovern's first start of the season. It may have been his third appearance.

Oh dear God. So either the BU offense is the worst ever or the Maine coaching staff didn’t realize they have the next Ken Dryden on their team.

McGovern made a couple of nice saves in the first period but BU never really threatened offensively after that. By no means did he stand on his head.

Agreed that BU checked-out after 20 minutes. But Rob really stood on his head at times in the 1st, though. BU could've scored then 3-4 times, easily.
