Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

So we're going to debate GW vs. LL goals for two weeks?

Sean

since we have time.... i asked a couple weeks ago and you may have answered. but have you tried to re-piece historical +/- figures, ever?

probably pretty spotty records to try, huh? (i had noticed that older media guides didn't even list them)

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

They're all important. :D
Very good point. :)

I was watching the London-Sault Ste Maire OHL game yesterday and the announcers talked a bit about how important every goal was for individual scoring races, even when one team was blowing out the other team.

No to both. +/- is pretty recent (if you consider 1989-90 recent ;)) and there really is no way to know who was on the ice for goals before it was officially recorded. Looking to see when BU started keeping track I did see that Shawn McEachern had a +55 and Tony Amonte had a +50 for the 1990-91 season. The next closest I saw was Jay Pandolfo at +39 for the 1995-96 season.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

did bu's video department youtube or tweet the waived off goal from friday night when matt lane was in the crease?

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

interesting.

i was on this site cause my search for mcdavid's sog this year had me there. couldn't find.

anyone here know where to find ohl sog?
It would appear that the OHL doesn't keep that obviously useless stat. :p

McDavid leads Eichel on the bobble head stat. :D

bu does have a comm school with kids who can slip in some eichel shots and dub 'eich' over 'mike', right? mookie wants to be impressed next friday on our jumbletron. get to it!

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

eichel has 16g, but 2 of them are eng.

so his shots on goal with a goalie give him a 11.8% shooting pct.
matt lane is 10.3%

tyler seguin is 13.4%
patrick kane is 13.6%
john tavares is 13.4%

jack is up to 12.7% now. (finding mcdavid's sog for the year is harder than expected for a comparison)

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

You drove me, right? I also remember not having lunch as the game the day before against St. Cloud also started at noon and I ate after that game so, you know, I had to do the same thing for this game! I remember thinking I'll watch the BU-SLU game, then eat. I think we talked about maybe watching the first period or so of hte Maine-Michigan game and then hitting the road. Then, all the OTs. I couldn't eat. I think we stopped on the way home at a McDonalds or something.

Yes indeed.

While on the subject of bad memories, shall we discuss the OT loss to UNH in 1998? The beginning of the BC rise and the BU fall.

Not a chance that'll make the jumbotron for a zillion copyright reasons. But someone with Avid or Final Cut could definitely make it and throw it on Youtube.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

If the games were in Boston, I'd definitely consider going. Unfortunately, HE still inexplicably ships the games to Hyannis.:confused:

Why is this event on Cape Cod, away from any Hockey East team??!? You would think it would get much better attendance in the Boston area.

Out of the way for everyone! Great idea!

I don't know why it's on the Cape either. That said, BU always seems to have many fans that will travel way further to see the guys play. Hyannis is much closer than Orono. Or Burlington. Or even Amherst.

And you can go to the beach! Oh...wait...

Although, I have no real knowledge. I believe they sent the WHEA tournament to Hyannis to give the women an actual tournament style feel to things. Also to raise interest in Women's Hockey on the Cape. As someone who has goes every year there are always many family's with young girls who play hockey there enjoying the games. It is also a small arena that fills up so they are playing fro a packed house, even if it would be less than a third of what Wally B could fit.
