Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Per USCHO's team results, BU-St. Lawrence was at 12:00 EST, and Michigan-Maine was scheduled to start at 3:30pm (obviously started much later).

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

The Academy Awards were on that night. I remember knowing I would be home in time for the show until after the 2nd OT. I called home to have my mom put in a tape to start recording as it was becoming apparent I wasn't going to make it home in time.

Well, obviously I was wrong. That right there shows you how traumatic it was! So I'm still trying to think back...what we probably said was "They've got to make new ice...then they have warmups...then they have to make new ice again...and we just lost a heartbreaking game...and I don't feel like getting home close to midnight...so let's go." :D

...I called home to have my mom put in a tape to start recording as it was becoming apparent I wasn't going to make it home in time.

That's the funniest part of all...remember the days when you'd record a game and it goes to overtime? You sit through the entire tape and then about 5 seconds before the end the tape runs out? Ugggghh!!! Now, with DVRs, we can just "extend" the recording time. Plus, you couldn't record and watch at the same time, so if you got home and turned it on and it was in, say, the 3rd period, you couldn't go back and watch (because obviously you couldn't rewind the tape while it was recording), so you had to sit and wait for the game to be over (and then you HOPED it was over and you didn't stop the tape too soon because, of course, you didn't want to see who won until you could watch the whole game) before you could watch.

You real young fans don't know how lucky you have it!!!!

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

big deal and if they went against protocol shame on them and you stuffed up their butt anyway on Saturday in a totally predictable outcome....................with Huskies yet again assuming the missionary position when ever they see the red and white

well, geez, i didnt mean to offend anyone here but it is what it is with BU and NU. I'll clean it up next time. My apologies

i already had ............. play us like you play them .........................and I would not be a bit surprised if NU beats BC in two weeks but you really ever upsetting BU, fugetaboutit

If you want to be taken seriously, try using the English language properly. Also, don't be an *******? For starters, at least.

Yep, it was Noon. I remember seeing Shawn Walsh and some of the Maine players watching from the concourse as BU skaters could barely get their legs over the boards. After 6.5 hours of hockey, there was no way I was going to stay for the Maine-MN game. Oscars or no Oscars.

You drove me, right? I also remember not having lunch as the game the day before against St. Cloud also started at noon and I ate after that game so, you know, I had to do the same thing for this game! I remember thinking I'll watch the BU-SLU game, then eat. I think we talked about maybe watching the first period or so of hte Maine-Michigan game and then hitting the road. Then, all the OTs. I couldn't eat. I think we stopped on the way home at a McDonalds or something.

Yeah, I remember for a BU-UNH HE semifinal, I held a lid to a plastic bin up blocking the TV screen when I turned on the TV to be sure the game had ended so I could stop recording and then rewind to watch the game. Only problem - the lid was light colored (not clear), and somehow, I was able to make out some UNH celebrations going on - even though the game was over, there was some sort of recap on. I watched anyway, but alas, it was a loss....

Edit: just looked it up: 2005 HE semis, went down 4-0, lost 5-2.

So BU essentially has a week off. What can we get riled up about?

When is Spring Break? Will any fans be back for the quarterfinals now that they're a week later?

Or, instead of gettting riled up about anything, we could all support the Women's team playing in the Hockey East tournament this weekend!

If the games were in Boston, I'd definitely consider going. Unfortunately, HE still inexplicably ships the games to Hyannis.:confused:

Hey, we figured out what time a game 15 years ago started, what else do you want out of this week!?! :D

Why is this event on Cape Cod, away from any Hockey East team??!? You would think it would get much better attendance in the Boston area.

Spring recess is March 7th - march 15th. I'd guess attendance will be low as per usual.

My DVR will only extend a recording up to 2 hours and will only allow a manually set recording up to 6 hours long.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

He drives east and starts to hear Bernie while passing fort devens
Mookie takes ayer exit and pulls into former rest area near the former fort as 3ot starts.
Mookie is listening there in the car that was at end of driveway... His father in laws silver mini van with a queer racing stripe, just hanging in this now closed but then popular rest area self absorbed in bu hockey and hoping for a win.
OT period ends and Mookie sits back and breathes
Whew
Looks out window at cars on rt2. Then notices cars driving circling rest area looking at FIL's van.
Odd......
What are these guys... Wait!
Oh!! Oh my!!!
Mookie puts van in reverse and gets back on highway. Exits and u-turns back east on Rt2 until he gets to concord and parks in paparazzi lot to listen to horrible final OT and bu loss.
Depressing ride home :(
Which is why it is a former rest area.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Mookie has told this story before..... But yes the celtics come on and sportsnet switched to celtics (awful pitino team). Mookie is on phone *****ing and out on rt2 living too far to pick up radio signal from that south shore station.
So Mookie is hanging at in laws and needs to drive nearer to Boston to hear game. He drives east and starts to hear Bernie while passing fort devens

Rest Areas were the bath houses of the 90's

No need to apologize. Personally I would have preferred doggie style… but missionary works. :D

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Barring a complete collapse, or a crazy explosion of offense, Eichel will likely finish third in Freshman scoring both in terms of points and points per game, behind Silk and Fidler (looking at Sean's data). I'm guessing their numbers didn't lead the country is scoring....different era.
As one who commented on Eichel's play I want to say that I was happy to see him have 2 very good games, even if both goals were deflections. His 5 points gives him 15 for February, now all he needs to do is get 20 for March/April. :) Actually, if he maintains or increases his PPG and BU makes it to both championship games he would end up 1st in freshman scoring and 2nd in rookie scoring. No pressure there. ;)

As for Silk, no the scoring leader that season (1976-77) had 108 points and Silk was 9th overall in scoring among ECAC players. Nine western players were also ahead of him, placing him at least 18th overall in scoring. The following season Fidler was 4th overall among ECAC players and 13th overall when western players are added in. In 1976-77 the top ECAC GAA was 3.55 (the top western GAA was 2.72) and in 1977-78 the top ECAC GAA was 3.19 (and the top western GAA was 2.58). This season the top GAA is 1.57 and 47 goalies has a GAA of 2.58 or less according to USCHO.

Well, perhaps someone can help me decipher something. On Collegehockeystats.net, goal descriptions (GW makes sense), but there's also "HT" and "LL." Can someone clue me in as to what those mean?

Also, I'm hopeful the ladies can win another Hockey East tournament crown, but that BC team is a juggernaut. If we have only one time to beat them, let it be in the national tourney.
