Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

MacLeod sat after 1st period? Any news about it? Bad penalty?

Was very, very clearly not tipped. Linesman later acknowledged it was incorrectly called. Not why they lost, though.

Oh, they lost cause the played like ****ing **** for the first 37 minutes and last 5. Motions-that was it. Mookie feels like someone owes him time, has, and the 15 spent on the ticket.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Defensive effort was brutal through the first two, and nothing could connect on the offensive side until the third. We had two open net goals on the sticks that were either whiffed on or missed. Sometimes that happens, gotta fight through it. I'm happy they didn't roll over and die, and fought back in the third. But there's work to do.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Just from box score watching (and seeing the two BC games), BU really is absurdly good in the 3rd period. It's just ridiculous how you can guarantee that BU will win the 3rd period or OT. No lead is safe against the Terriers. Might this be their last loss of the season?

They play like this and they may lose out

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Didn't get a chance to see the game, so I'll ask this: How much do you think is because of LaCouvee? I'm not trying to lay blame on the kid, but he hasn't been able to see many games of late. Maybe rust involved? But was it a defensive breakdown, or do you think that with OC, BU's not in a 4-0 hole going into the third?

It was 3-0 when OC got pulled.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

I'm a bit worried about OC. He's not playing well. I think the crappy defense is just human nature/in their head ****. But OC let in at least on goal on Friday he'd like to have back. I didn't see last night's 2-period no show.

I love this team. They were due for a stinker. It gives Quinn a chance to coach 'em up and not let it happen again. Oh, and let's give UNH some credit. Blue Out at the Whitt and I'm sure they were sky high and playing inspired hockey.

BU Hockey: Relax.

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Mookie don't think peeps are panicking -- but just stating fact that if they play like this they ain't gonna win a game, let alone anything worth holding and passing around

Re: BU Season Thread II: The Resurgence

Yeah, I'm not too worried about this team. They have far exceeded anyone's expectations (what was the average standings in the predictions thread - 6th?) I really hope they bring home some hardware this year, but it is certainly possible that they won't (did you see what NU did to UConn over the weekend?). They have brought the winning tradition back and they play an entertaining brand of hockey. Their third period domination reminds me of the '89-'90 team, which I think I compared this team to earlier on in the season. They are loaded with freshmen and sophomores, especially on defense. They are going to have hiccups here and there. As has been pointed out multiple times, the 90-91 team that won a lot of hardware lost to PC 9-1 around Beanpot time. But last night wasn't a huge disappointment the way that game was. They have won a lot of games, but they are not leaps and bounds better than the rest of the league.

On a side note, it's good to see Hohmann picking things up on the scoresheet, so Rodrigues isn't the only Senior having a great year.

BU has had a habit of playing down to teams — hi Providence, 2009! — but can play up when they take on the better teams. UMass aside, they've not had many three-period games. Think about the UVM games where they were sleeping half the time.

another 30 seconds and they were gonna tie that game, no question. I thought they were going to throw a TD pass in the third again at one point
