well either way one has to be responsible for that they do out there, right or wrong.

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

BU just posted this YouTube of the Somerby hit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN58lqXdSJ8&feature=youtu.be
Conclusions:
1. Looks like Doyle is being punished for being big.
2. BU is very unhappy with the suspension.
3. Might have been half a second late but not a dirty hit.

Based on that, I don't think the suspension is warranted but can't tell if it is late. Interesting that BU posted that and I agree with conclusion number 2. Almost comes under criticizing the officials.

The video has been taken down. Watching Privitera was a little like watching Saponari last year, except for the ending.:D

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

Caught most of the third period and OT on the stream.
- BU looked a little lost in their own zone on coverage. There seems to be times when someone was out of position such that what should have been a routine pass was all of a sudden a puck up for grabs
- That being said, sweeping on the road in a tough barn is a great result for the weekend. Not much separates many of the top teams in HE, so it is going to be a battle come tourney time.
- Rodrigues has certainly caught fire of late. Glad to see him really putting his skills to work in the right way. Nice anticipation on the steal. I couldn't see on the stream where he put his shot.
- Another sick deflection by Eichel - similar to his goal against Michigan. This one was even more impressive as it looked like he got his blade on it, not the shaft. I'll be interested to see a replay. He certainly is not dominating like he once looked like he would, but he sure is picking good times to step up!

Announcer said that BU leads the nation in third period goalies scored. (41 or something close to that.)
And VT led the nation in fewest allowed, 10 when he said it.
So a good weekend against a really good defensive team.

With respect to own zone play, we were rotating 5 D all night so that played a role. A generally well played game all around by both teams.

Wow what a tip by Eichel. Great work by E-Rod as well. Awesome job to get all 4 points this weekend!

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

know it won't end up like this, but just curious if there's been a precedent. would committee give you the atlantic hockey rep even though you aren't #1 overall seed (not sure when/if that's ever happened) or one of the hockey east teams who are in the 4 seed band.

I don't think anyone should be excited to face off with Robert Morris.... Very solid record this year and might be dangerous

Jack Eichel is the first Terrier since the formation of Hockey East to have 3 overtime goals in the same season. The only other Terriers to have 3 ot goals in a career since then are Colby Cohen (1 in 2008-09 and 2 in 2009-10) and Bryan Miller (1 each in 2001-02, 2002-03 and 2003-04).

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

So when is this "let's wait till the last 10 minutes" mentality going to bite them in the rear?

It worked well at the end of the 2008-2009 season...:D

But yeah, it's nerve wracking. They need to play sharp all game.

Do you know what the HEA season and career OT goal records are?

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

They came out strong on Friday. (3-0 lead) I only watched the 3rd and OT last night, but I'm guessing that the best defensive team in HE raised their game last night. They were 2 minutes from a shut-out! (Thanks Alexx! I hope your former mates send ya a gift basket.)

Anyone else notice that Danny took that own-zone face off (and won it) right before they got the puck deep and Eichel performed his OT magic?

I love this team. They just find a way. A good quality to have in tournament play.

Good decision by Quinn. O'Regan is 67% on face offs, while Eichel is 47%. On Friday night, when UVM pulled the goalie for a 6 on 4 (and scored), was hoping Jack would get tossed from the circle and O'Regan would take the draw.

While the third-period comeback scenario was repeated yet again last night, it was a much more thorough effort and a much-needed fast start. Give credit to Santaguida for keeping BU off the board in the first period.

Rodrigues' night could be called a "Ray Bourque" hat trick: goal, assist, textbook hip check.
