Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

is hockey east down from say last year? or is it more that simply BC is down?

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

Other thoughts from catching the game on TV:
- No Olsson - any word on why that changed?
- Did Carrabino have more than 2 shifts? Also seemed like Piccinich had very few shifts. Then again, with the horrendous camera angle that the arena provides, it's really hard to see much of anything (the Fox banner using up the bottom 8th of the screen and the scoreboard the top 5th don't help).
- 1 goal in two games. All of a sudden I am concerned about the talent level at forward. Rodrigues needs to do more. Hohmann expends more energy than anyone, but the results just aren't there. His shot right into the goalies glove when he was all alone in front sort of tells the whole story. I thought Greer looked pretty good - would like to see him get off the 4th line.
- Power Plays were a stark contrast. Merrimack seemed to maintain possession on theirs much better than we did on ours.
- Related - Phelps and MacLeod - might we see one or two of them sit tonight after taking some bad ones? I think Merrimack was good at drawing them, but BU needs to adjust. That second period was rough.
- It needs to be pointed out that Eichel has no points in 3 of the last 4 games. He showed his skill again last night, but it's not showing up in the scoresheet lately. Time to change up the lines? I would consider it, at least against the Mack tonight.
- Seney looked good out there. Hickey (?) shouldn't have given him so much room on that goal.
- O'Connor has been very good this year. Last night was no exception.

Need a W tonight or the outlook for this team may drop a notch.

Yup. Time for a line shake-up. Put Rodrigues on the top line, drop Oksanen to the second. Put Greer up. Put Lane on the second line and put Hohmann to the 3rd.

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

while i think hoky exaggerated, i do think it's fair to say it's not a great forward lineup. mookie's hmmm response to defkit pointing bu's offensive struggles coincide with a dip in eichel's production. THAT is not a coincidence.

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

i should say the hmmm response leads me to believe mookie might agree

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

No, no, no. They played too many games in too short a time period and they're the youngest team in the country and the other teams are much older than them and yada yada yada... coach said so.

And then they go and play a team with 30 year olds on it!!! Holy crap!

Don't need line changes. They need a couple months off to rest up, then they'll be fine. :p

I like these changes. But I'll say what I've said in the past - as long as Lane is on the top two lines, that tells me we need more skill. Lane is a very solid forward who plays smart hockey. But he is a 3rd liner on an elite team. But for now, he has the "hot" hand, so sure, put him on the second line.

Two guys who were previously top-two forwards being injured doesn't help.

Baliargerioroioeiien is definitely a top 6. I'd like to see olsson be there, next yr for sure-but having thin there now shows just how bare the cupboard was.
Roberto was top 6 last yr and has shown this yr he is a good 4th liner. Chit even Duane was pulling top 6 time last yr.
Mookie would love to have 6 Matt lane's filling out the 3rd and 4rh lines.

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

I definitely think they need to turn the volume up for the piped in music. Everybody wants eardrum damage right?

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

Dominant. Best game of the year for BU so far. Eichel 4 (assists) Mac 1 after 2
