Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

Come on now. There are a few of us.

I like Harvard where they are now. They are a good team, but young and inexperienced. If they have a similar winning % heading into the beanpot...then I will be upset with polls. But yes, the polls are meaningless right now.

The Harvard game will be a tough one for BU. If I heard the broadcast of their Yale game correctly they have 10 NHL draft picks and they are very fast and talented with a very good goal tender. They had an easier time with BC than we did and we have not beaten them in many games. They are better than their ranking and we may still be too young for #3.

The Harvard game may very we'll be the biggest test so far for the boys.

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

At first, I was worried that the Arizona State news would mean, probably, another new conference with an automatic bid, which would mean one fewer at-large bid which had the potential to limit appearances by BU in the nationals. Then, I realized that BU will earn the HE auto-bid from now until who knows when, so, nothing to be concerned about. Go Sun Devils!!!

No new conference for another 15 yrs min

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

FYI - I just picked up a group of vintage unused BU practice jerseys from the team when I was out in Boston back in October. These brand new CCM jerseys have been sitting in storage since they were purchased in early 1995, never used, never worn (most are still date tagged in the neck from CCM quality control). Great heavy-weight knit jersey with double elbows, double shoulder yoke and a Velcro/snap tie-down in the back just in case if you cross paths with any BC alumni in your local pick-up hockey game and the gloves come off... They are all size 54 (that's ~27" across the chest if you are not familiar with numerical sizing). They are $30 each which includes shipping anywhere in the US. I can do a little better if you want a couple of them and ship them together. Sorry for the commercialism in the thread, but I hope if any of you ever come across a Tech jersey out East you would return the favor and offer it to me.

If a new conference was created - likely a Pac 12 - that would mean an additional five or six schools would be added, and would likely mean the tournament would be expanded a bit to 18 or 20.

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

So . . . starting tomorrow, five games in nine days?

i suppose all are winnable, but none are gimmes. (Don't say Dartmouth: this is going to be one tired club at the end.)

To make matters worse:
Friday night hosting Maine, then travel to CT for a mid-afternoon game?
And after Thanksgiving, host Colgate on Saturday and head to Hanover for a Sunday 4pm face-off?

Yikes!

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

Three current and three future Terriers made Central Scouting's preliminary players to watch list with grades. Diffley, who went undrafted last year, benefited from the scouting attention Eichel and Greer are getting.

Eichel and Greenway--A
Greer and Forsbacka-Karlsson--B
Diffley and McDermott--C

Colgate is ranked sixth, far from a pushover.

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

Has the start time for the Uconn game Saturday been changed from 3:30 to 3pm? My morning paper says it has. So does the USCHO Schedule page. The online fan pages still say 3:30. I suspect that the game may have been changed to 3pm because the Uconn football team is playing a home game at 8pm. Can anyone confirm this?

The game is still a 3:30 p.m. start. Best place to check for that info is http://www.goterriers.com/sports/m-hockey/sched/bost-m-hockey-sched.html

Adam Clendening scored a power-play goal last night on his first NHL shot. Video and interview on the blog.

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

Well I met Bobby Orr this morning and he said he was going to be at the BU game tonight with some "kid that may go to BU." So there's that. :)

Re: BU season thread I - 2014-2015

I've got 2 "best seats in the house" tickets available to tonight's game. No *******s allowed or my seat mates will vote me off the island. Send me an email at mbaumhardt@hotmail.com if you are interested.

Oh, and adding to the First shot, first NHL goal post above. The Hawks beat Johnny Hockey in that game. #Bonus
