And perhaps it speaks to the fact that BU often seemed to lack a true sniper, but in the USCHO stats, which go back to 99-00, nobody eclipsed that. Jason Lawrence was the closest at 25 in 08-09. Since I know there is no way anyone did in 98-99 (the Albie O'Connell year), it had to have been Chris Drury's 28 his senior year (97-98).

I wonder if Eichel's 45 assists are the most since McEachern had 48 in '90-'91. Sean P?

Yes, the last time a Terrier had more than 26 goals was Drury in 1997-98. And yes, His 45 assists are the most since McEachern in 1990-91.

I guess you can take over from me as the Terrier historian / stats keeper. :D

But here is a little trivia: who had the following goal totals in their his three years?: 14, 21, 28 (so he obviously would have had 35 if he came back for his senior year...Say in Ain't So!) :D:D:D

I was reflecting on the loss Saturday and comparing it to how I felt in 1997. Back then I had felt BU was going nowhere in the postseason, having a poor January and then a tie to UML and a lost weekend in Orono in February. Instead the team won 8 straight to make it to the NCAA championship game. This year BU had a poor two week stretch in February before winning the Beanpot and then eight straight games before losing in the NCAA championship game. After losing in '97 I felt pretty good, but this year I feel even better. Every player on that '97 team had played in the FF every season they had been at BU, and the juniors and seasons had won the title in '95. This year's team had only 2 players who had even played a single NCAA game, and they did as well as that experienced '97 team. So I'm very happy for this past season and I'm looking ahead to next season more than I've looked forward to a season in a long time.

Well-said Sean. I think pretty much every other team except for PC would have gladly taken the season BU had. I also share your sentiment about looking forward to next season; I feel bullish about the team's chances of having another very successful season in HE and nationally.

There is much to look forward to with this program right now, regardless of early departures.

With another strong recruiting class coming in, there’s plenty to look forward to next season. BU will be a very young team again as (probably) nine sophomores are joined by at least seven freshmen. Clearly, much will depend on whether several current juniors—Grzelcyk, O’Regan, Oksanen—return and how well LaCouvee and Maguire perform.

The U18s begin the World Championships tomorrow in Switzerland and FastHockey is livestreaming all the US games for free, so it’s a chance to see newcomers Greenway and McAvoy, as well as 2016 recruit Clayton Keller. Also two uncommitteds who reportedly are BU targets, Matt Tkachuk and Chad Krys.

Does anyone know how, on a daily basis, the jobs of President, GM and Executive Director of Player Personnel differ? I can see that the President has corporate (off ice) responsibilities, but ultimately, don't these jobs come down to personnel? Seems like there's be plenty of overlap.

If Grzelcyk sticks to his initial word and does come back, that means we don't lose any current defensemen, and we add a stud in McAvoy. With all healthy, I see him potentially bumping Fortunato out, but I haven't seen him play, so I'm just going by perception at this point. Of course, it is highly likely that at least one is injured for part of the season, so it's a good problem to have.

The next two classes are dynamite, and with Farrance and Wise following, the future is indeed very bright.

Should BU have 7 capable D I would anticipate the 6 that would play would rotate based on performance and practice, as opposed to there being a set 7th D. Similar to how Phelps, Greer, Baillargeon, and Piccinich were all healthy scratches multiple times but also all played 25+ games.

fortunato gets on the plan this summer and puts on 15 lbs he could very well explode for us next season.

McAvoy and Switzer are both right shots. McAvoy, who, one scout tweeted yesterday, is playing the best of the U18 Ds, is paired with Chad Krys on the first unit and on the power play.

If Fortunado gets bumped maybe he'll transfer to NU.

This reminds me of when my puppy runs around under the table hoping for food to fall off my plate before leaving every meal disappointed.
