Re: BU season thread 4 - 2014-15 // destiny's children
Has anyone met buoldtimer? Does anyone know his background?
Given his strong opinions and the confidence with which he dispenses his insights and information, I must surmise that hockey is his livelihood.
"What would he be doing for a living if he hadn't ridden Gretzky to 1993 SC Finals? He's lived off that for 20 years."
" Why was BU so passive in the 3rd period? No o-zone at all. They were in trouble before O'C's gaffe"
"The timing of Hohmann sliding into the postgame celebration is perfect. He plays real hard, but he does blow a tire more often than most players. That fact that he did at the high point of the entire season lends a comic aspect to his 4 seasons at BU."
"I noticed that Quinn and the coaches came back to the bench early before the 3rd Period, leaving the 'room to Grzelyck and the boys"
"I don't know if anyone else saw this, but I think there was a serious breach of the Jerry York Protocols for On-Ice Behavior following last night's game. As the Garden staff attached the BU banner to the HE flag, and while the awards tables were being setup, the Riverhawks acknowledged their fans with, yes, a stick salute. We all know that JY attaches equal reverence to the stick salute, as he does the pregame lineup for the National Anthem. I believe last night's gaffe violates Chapter 5, Postgame Behavior, Section 3 Stick Salute, Paragraph 3, Hockey East Championship Game of the JYP's. Norm Bazin must've received an admonition this morning via Voice Mail, or text. "
Only the great buoldtimer notices all of these things!!
"One man's opinion - The team isn't where it was a month ago. Being so young, I'd hoped, maybe expected, that the team would improve as the season wore on. Instead, it's regressed. Last night was the most glaring example of a trend we've seen over the past few weeks in which opponents trap BU deep in its own end of the ice. Also, what's the story with Baillargeon? Aside from the 2 on 1 with Rodrigues in the 3rd Period, I didn't notice him. "
"Perhaps, the defensemen (MacLeod and Gryzelcyk?) backed off and gave up too much room on the second, and game-tying, ND goal on Friday night?"
"I agree. I think the success of BU's season hinges on Baillargeon, specifically getting him on the scoresheet. Hohmann and Oksanen can't play on the same line as Baillargeon. RB needs linemates who will dig the puck out of the corners and from along the boards, and pass it to him. Pass is the last item on AO's To Do List. Baillargeon has 4 or 5 points at this point? That stat is inconceivable given his performance last season, even taking mono into consideration. After Eichel, he's the most talented forward on the team. I saw last night's game live and on replay. Sadly, I took scant notice of Baillargeon. Olsson or Greer would be a much better fit - one man's opinion.
"If that's his role, he's been seriously miscast. He's better suited to mixing it up with the kids who play between periods. More his size."
"Speaking of the PP Points, BU might try to make maximum use of Hickey's shot. It's hard, low and, usually on target. He has the best shot of any BU point man in quite some time. "
