BU Recruiting Update--Part 5

Rogie21, great updates but time to start a new BU recruiting thread. Some of the players on the start of the thread are retiring from their pro careers these days. ;-)

As you wish, Harry. :)

2025 recruit Jack Murtagh, along with fellow recruits, Charlie Trethewey and Conrad Fondrk, has been one of the NTDP U17s' top performers. PuckPreps now has upgraded his ranking.

New 5 Star!

The only new addition to the 5-star ranks is U17 NTDP centreman Jack Murtagh who jumps from #42 to #32 on our rankings after a strong start to the year. Murtagh thrives below the hash marks in the tough areas on the ice as his powerful stride allows him to muscle through contact along the wall. He shows great touch with the puck as he feeds teammates in the slot from behind the goal-line and his ability to make quick decisions and one touch passes makes him a great small area asset. He is especially adept at finding seams off the rush on zone entries and he follows up his natural playmaking ability by driving the net hard off-puck for give-and-go’s. The U17 team has not gotten off to a roaring start this year but Murtagh has certainly been a positive piece.

Among U.S. 2007 recruits, PuckPreps has Fondrk #5, Murtagh #11 and Trethewey #13. More on the blog

"Super Joe" Pereira strikes again! Just days after the Carter Amico signing, BU gets a commitment from 4-star (likely to move up) 2007 LD Sasha Boumedienne, Swedish born, now playing for Youngstown. Played for Sweden in the recent World U17 Challenge. Terriers now have verbals from both players the Phantoms tendered last winter, Boumedienne and 5-star Canadian forward Zach Morin, who also played in the World U17 Challenge.

More on the blog in the morning.

What's the story on goalies for next year?

Here is BurntBoats' most recent future rosters chart. With the addition of Boumedienne for 2025 and Amico for 2026, an extremely strong pipeline gets even better.

As for the goalies, Caron will be a senior next season.Right now, Chambre is playing for Sioux Falls in the USHL and Lacroix is with the expansion Colorado team in the NAHL.

PuckPreps' analysis of top 2007s in the USHL includes these notes about recent commit Sascha Boumedienne:
Youngstown seems to have gotten another coup via the tender process when they signed Boumedienne as he has been one of the league’s best 16-year old skaters and looks to possess significant upside. Already he has been logging big minutes and seeing time on special teams in part to high end hockey sense and skill set. His skating is fluid and dynamic and he’s a constant threat to jump into the play or breakout with the puck unscathed...Overall, this kid has the potential to be a household name down the road if he hasn’t already turned heads.

Just saw on twitter (X) that Owen Keefe switched his commitment from BU to NU
Going to play for his father- surprise or no longer figured in plans

Don't know if it was a "surprise" per se, but I doubt Jay and staff pushed him out. He has a solid rating and projects as a mid round pick. Probably more than anything just wanted to play for his dad. It was always kind of bizarre that he committed here in the first place instead of Northeastern.

He wants to win Beanpots.

Too soon?
