Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

Jack Eichel ripped a one-timer in overtime to give the U18s a 4-3 win against Michigan State. Second consecutive 2-goal game giving him 30 goals, 33 assists in 37 U18 games.

Fellow 2014 recruit AJ Greer scored a goal and an assist for Kimball Union in a 4-3 win over Brooks in the Small School Prep semifinal. KUA takes on Dan Donato's Dexter School team in the final.

When I saw him on the U-17 play Lincoln last year, it was obvious he was on another level from just about everyone else on the ice. He'll make lotsa noise next season for BU.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

I saw Eichel after the WJC with the under 18 team and he was still on another level...legit star if he gets to BU

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 2m
There are whispers elite 2015 prospect Jack Eichel may consider not going to BU if he could play head-to-head in OHL vs. Connor McDavid.

Talk about the possibility of a kick in the nuts for BU.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

Like everyone didn't see that coming the whole time...

A CHL team GM could have just thrown that out there to take a shot at him. No real reason to believe he won't be at BU in the fall. He already turned down two teams in the Q

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

Because he wants to play on a good team in the O. Notice how top draft picks always $omehow end up on the top teams.

From what I understand, he'd have to clear waivers in the Q first before any O team had a shot at him. So basically, every single Q team would have to pass on him before this outcome would even be a possibility. Most of what I've read make this seem like an enormous long shot.

Edit: And there you go: Mike McMahon ‏@MikeMcMahonCHN 13s

Spoke to Darrell Young, GM of the Saint John Seadogs: "There is no way we're ever going to let [Eichel] go to the Ontario Hockey League."

So, it would appear if he's going to go anywhere in Canada, it'd be to a Q team.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

Stranger things have happened in the CHL. It's a shady, shady place. We'll see. Personally, I don't expect him to play college next year.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

And now we see just how good Quinn and co. are at keeping top talent committed... I've had a feeling in my gut that this was still far from a lock. Just would love to see this guy in a BU sweater.
