Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

2014 recruit Jack Eichel will return to the NTDP program and play for the U18s next season. QMJHL Halifax has given up his rights.

Mooseheads GM: "He’s decided to go back to the national development program next year and is still very high on BU. We just felt the chances of getting him here were getting slimmer so we opted to take the second-round pick instead.”

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

Any idea what happens with the scholarship money that just freed up from the Privatera brothers leaving? Too late now for any new recruits for 2013?

Not too late. Can look to Europe. Oksanen came under similar timing.

But you don't want to use scholarships for guys just to use them. You need to want them.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

2014 goalie recruit Shane Starrett will play with USHL Sioux Falls, despite interest from BCHL teams including Powell River (Sean Maguire's junior team). From an SB Nation report on Stampede tryout camp: "Starrett is huge(6'5"), but has some amazing quickness for a player his size.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

Does anyone have a link to Chris Heisenberg's 2014 list? There hasn't been an update since May 10th, on the 2013 list, so I figured that one was done.

not sure if Chris has the 2014 list yet. Maybe that's why it's been so long since he's put anything out. You can follow here if you haven't already done so. Clik on the Name of the player and a dialogue box will open up with the player's bio.....http://collegehockeyinc.com/stats/commitments.php

FWIW, the College Hockey Inc. list of UNH recruits has several errors (e.g., missing a recruit; inaccurate starting year for a few players).

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

From ‏@MikeMcMahonCHN
"Multiple sources saying BU recruit Cam Askew likely to sign in the Q. Likely drafted in top-5 picks tomorrow & he's in Quebec for the draft."

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

Askew drafted #11 by Drummondville in first round of Q draft. Decision making time I guess.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

June 5: “I felt more comfortable going the USHL route. The ‘Q’ (QMJHL) was there, but my dream has been to go to BU.”

Why even say this if your mind isn't really made up yet?

He had a few too many discussions with Charlie Coyle. Mike McMahon has been reporting the same thing as well, he's as good as gone.

I thought I'd seen some recruiting Dog & Pony shows, but Askew's Excellent Adventure might take the cake. How many schools and franchises has this kid and his family left holding the bag?

When you recruit mercanaries, sometimes you get outflanked.

Askew was recruited by the past recruiter who is no longer employed by Boston University. Let's say with this particular recruit going in a different direction everyone wins here.
