BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

WRT Clendening:
Ron Anderson was sitting near us at the Beanpot. Somebody asked him outright about Clendening. From what I heard, he was saying that AC and his dad do think he's "ready" but they're smoking the drugs.

So, assuming that's the Chi Blackhawks' 'official' stance, AC won't be leaving at their request.

Could it be that Chicago may have changed their minds since then, or that AC would want to go play in the AHL, and Chicago would let him do that?

Not according to a few sources I've heard from. So why is this discussion on the recruiting thread?

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

2012 recruit Matthew Lane scored a goal and an assist in Team USA's initial game win against Finland, 4-0. 2013 recruit Dan O'Reagan, playing on the team's top line added a power play assist. United States of Hockey's recap offered this about Lane, in addition to some praise for d-man Matt Grzelcyk's play:

Matthew Lane – Lane had two points with a goal and assist. Additionally, Lane was a threat in all areas of the ice due to his good foot speed and aggressive play. Lane’s goal was a beauty and it kept the momentum moving in the right direction for Team USA. That second goal really took the wind out of Finland’s sails.

Of the 24 players with Hockey East commitments who were ranked by Central Scouting, nine are BU recruits--8 skaters and goalie Sean Maguire. Top 50 North American recruits have been invited to the NHL combine. Heard that Robbie Baillargeon is headed to Toronto for the combine.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

Do people think that BU fans know the answer and aren't saying anything? I've seen this question in, like, three threads.

Hokydad always seems to have inside info and pipes in sometimes with tidbits, or teases (mostly teases). For instance, when the Coyle and Trivino fiasco happened, Hokydad said there was something else coming, that we would all find out soon enough. And, no, it was not Nicastro. After the season ended, he still said there was something else on the way.

Dont forget too... he said that "A Player Was Moving On" or something to that effect. I would say he was talking about Coyle and that the Trivino fiasco was a surprise to everyone.

Yeah, I'm well aware of Hokydad and his tidbits. I'm just mildly amused about on how people from all over come to a BU thread to ask BU fans about Kurker and if he's coming to BU. Don't people think that once it's known, it will be posted? Jeez, we want to know, too. We are not keeping information from anyone. Because once he does make his decision known, it will be all over this board.

hoky should have his own thread to post his stuff. make it easier to read and we wouldn't have to go dip into every thread to see if he has any news.

Don't forget the small faction of know it alls who never break a story but after the fact will claim to have known about it the whole time. Perhaps it is to them The question was directed

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

when will you (and others) see this is a compliment?

Huh? That wasn't a complaint about non BU people polluting our threads. I was just posting that it seems like people feel like we (BU fans) know something about this idiot that we're not telling others. I tell you, if this kid does wind up coming to BU he better be The Next Big Thing, because all this chatter about whether he comes or not is getting tiresome.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

And no offense, but you and I obviously have different ideas of what constitutes a compliment if you think that.

no offense taken...............i've just read time to time and have had it posted to me words to the effect that "this is the BU thread, go post in your own thread" sorta thing and to me , that so many people are interested and reading about and posting about BU hockey IS a compliment and a sign of them recognizing the historical significance of the program and a sign (by most including myself) of respect for it

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

One thing that I think is going to hurt BU next year is the fact that Robert Polesello no longer appears to be the immediate impact type player that many were predicting he would be a year or two ago. In 55 games for the USHL's Indiana Ice, he's got a 15-16-31 (+8) scoring line, which likely doesn't translate into a high scoring freshman year at BU. As a comparison, BC recruit Austin Cangelosi, who is several months younger than Polesello and who's also a first year USHL player, has a 28-28-56 (+18) line in 50 games.

No surprise here.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

No surprise here.

Sounds like he could be another John Sabo, the second coming of Paul Kariya when he committed and the second coming of Travis Banga when he actually showed up :D

All kidding aside, he was considered as Blue as a Blue Chip recruit can be when he picked BU over BC and others, so even though he may not be on the same trajectory as predicted, am sure he'll still be a good college player, just not nearly as good as Cangelosi :p

Personally, I like seeing you posting here, your posts are generally insightful and/or humorous and not at all trolling. It's some others from your end of Comm Ave that create the problems.
