Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

ot winner in JCWC IN Russia for ushl team

oh nice.
agree with rogie. it's tough for these kids to come in right out of high school. sam certainly has potential or he wouldn't have been drafted and garnered all the attention of bu & other schools. i hope he does well wherever he ends up (well not if he goes to bc, of course).

Agreed - it is just so rare these days. Heck, it seems even coming out of prep school is getting rarer. Good lusk to Sam, and Abramsson as well. Is it just me or does it seem like many x-BU guys end up at Vermont?

Abramson is running out of time. you get 5 to play 4. After sitting out another year, he is close to limit if not already there...

Will be interesting to see where Kurker lands. Always hear St Lawrence but that has faded.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

The USHL Atlantic Challenge games will be streamed free on Fast Hockey. NTDP U18s (Greenway and McAvoy) play Muskegon tonight a 8 p.m. ET and they play the Lincoln Stars tomorrow at 3:20 p.m. ET.
From the Fast Hockey schedule page, put "USHL" in the filter box and then locate 2014 USHL Atlantic Challenge in the events list.

FYI - from Mark Divver

Edm. pick Liam Coughlin back in Vernon. @SouthShoreKings expected to have him, but word is he opted for BCHL after parting ways with BU

Did I read correctly (re: parting ways with BU)? Also following tweet from USHL scout Brad Clayton:

Brad Clayton ‏@claytov9
@MarkDivver @OTBPuckWatch said he was coming to Dubuque, went to bchl, committed to BU, than decommitted, was going to SS, now bchl#redflag

He also decommitted from UMass Amherst.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

Terriers land another elite talent for 2016. Avon Old Farms forward Patrick Harper, a 5-8 left shot from New Caanan, Conn. He was OTB’s #4 uncommitted player in its most recent top 100 listing. Prior to prep season he’s playing for the River Rats U18 and leads the team with 6-10-16. A ’98 birthdate, last season, he played for the NJ Rockets U19s against mostly much older players and had a 131-16-29 line in 24 games.

OTB tweeted: “Dominant skill in a 5’8” frame.” Then added "Nightmarishly talented group of 98 forwards headed to BU. Clayton Keller, Hank Crone, Kieffer Bellows, now they add another in Harper."

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

To paraphrase Ernie Banks, "let's recruit two!" Right on the heels of Avon Old Farms center Patrick Harper's verbal earlier today, BU gets a commitment from top 2017 defenseman David Farrance of the Syracuse Stars 16Us. 5'11" left-shot defenseman from Victor, NY.

OTB:
Huge day for the Terriers on the recruiting trail. New recruit David Farrance has mobility, skill on the blue like few others, at any age.
Farrance was our 2nd-ranked 1999-born D-man this July, and the only likely candidate to become #1. Our 3rd-ranked uncommitted at this time.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

Sounds like a couple good pick-ups. I have to think that Eichel actually coming to campus has helped. Of course he won't be here when they arrive.

picking up 14 & 15 year olds will win you many Beanpots!!

Good good point. But when that is what everyone is doing, then that is what everyone is doing.

You of course also need to pepper those fires with older 'kids' who get in the recruiting list later on as the class nears arrival.
