Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

USHR tweeted that 13-1-0 Kimball Union will take on the EJHL Jr. Bruins tomorrow at 1:45 p.m. Game will match BU two biggest--size-wise--recruits for 2013. 6-5, 223, dman Doyle Somerby (NYI 6th round choice) is a KUA co-captain who helped his team capture the Flood Marr and Nichols tournaments over the holidays. 6-4 218 Kevin Duane recently joined the Bruins after scoring 12 points in 18 games for USHL Waterloo and has a 6-6-12 line (including 5 power play goals) in seven EJHL games.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

1/4: Tkachuk (Notre Dame/St.Louis U16)

???

Yup. Keith was always very vocal about how much he and his family loved St. Louis, so it's not a big surprise that his son will play closer to that home than Keith's home.

Oh well.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

I saw on Chris Heisenberg's site (under US National Team) that Jack Eichel s listed as headed to BU in 2015 now. But, on the front page, it says the fall of 2014. I know he's a young birthday, but I thought 2014 was a done deal.

It may as well say 2025. Do you really think this kid will ever set foot on Comm Ave?

Kid any good? He has to at least be familiar with the area. Keith's been a member at the ridge club on the cape forever

Yes, he is. I'd heard the BU staff thinks very highly of him, but don't know if BU was given strong consideration.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

New blog post on 2013 recruit Doyle Somerby, captain of top ranked Kimball Union, with links to articles from OverTheBoards.com and The Salem News. Just what BU can use, a huge, talented shutdown defender with a strong work ethic and complete dedication to his team. Sounds like a future Terrier captain, if he's still there by his junior year.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

BU received a verbal from Selects Hockey Academy U18/South Kent goalie Shane Starrett. 6-5, 190, a '94 birthdate. Playing in the U.S. Elite Hockey League, previously was at Catholic Memorial. Ranked #35 among North American goalies in the Central Scouting midterms. Brother Peter was a d-man at Harvard. A senior at SHA, likely to play a year of junior and arrive in 2014, after Moccia has graduated.

Kimball Union captain Doyle Somerby, also 6-5 and a 2013 recruit, has joined the USHL Muskegon Lumberjacks for the next month.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

BU 16 recruit Cameron Askew, who played for Cushing Academy’s NEPSAC large school champions this year, is expected to play in the USHL for the Indiana Ice next season. He had signed a tender with the Ice earlier this season.
A writer for the Future Considerations site posted “Askew was in fact told that Parker would likely not be there for his years at BU, so that comes as no surprise to the Askew camp. Hearing he'll 100% be in Indiana in the fall.”

Makes sense. Would be only fair to at least mention the possibility to incoming recruits.... And when a coach is in his late 60's, "how long are you going to coach" is something I would think any recruit would ask.

Re: BU Recruiting Update, Part 3

This is consistent with what I'd recently heard, that Parker has been telling recruits for a while he wouldn't be coaching much longer and for those further out, he wouldn't be there when they arrived.

Askew and 2013 recruit Robbie Baillargeon, a former Cushing all-star now in the USHL, were in the Friends lounge after Saturday night's game.

Yeah... After the game Askews dad tweeted something about how Parker "sealed the deal" on Saturday and that there would be no major junior for cam.

Well, you know that Jack's all-time favorite movie is "The Godfather." A deal they couldn't refuse? ;)

Ha! I took it to mean they were impressed with what they saw and heard. Kudos to jack for still doing everything he can to leave to the program in good shape as he steps away.
