BU: Offseason '22: Build The Boats

I think you could make a strong argument that Jeff Gorton and Quinn has the Rangers on the right path and were let go because of
terrible ownership group having no patience
Obviously with this years results things are looking rosy for them

well why WAS The door opened for DQ to exit there?

Drury has made a strong case for NHL Exec of the Year.

Sooooo, the Bruins relieved Bruce Cassidy of his head coaching duties. Why? I don't know. But now the speculation begins for his replacement. Think the B's take a look at David Quinn?

If Barry Trotz is available, he'd be a great choice. He's probably want to be coach and GM, so he could control a re-build which, given the current state of the roster, is now very much due.

Fluto, BU guy, mentioned Quinn. Not what I want as a Bruins fan but then again I want Cam Neely gone.

If the Bruins are going into a full rebuilding mode, Quinn would be a good choice. Not sure why he would want to do that again.

Sweeney is making Chiarelli look like Sam Pollock by comparison. He has been awful. Terrible drafter.

What makes Neely qualified to run a franchise? Iconic player, but ... Did he even graduate from high school? Education is not everything, but ...

Me too. But think about it. If Neely fires Sweeney it’s an indictment on himself and then he might be gone too. Better to deflect the blame… :)

Watched terriers unleashed and Pandolfo said he expects the 5 freshmen coming in next year to make an immediate impact. Guessing those freshmen are Lane Hutson, Quinn Hutson, Devin Kaplan, Ryan Greene, and Jeremy Wilmer.

Disregard this. Saw on Chilliwack Chiefs website that Getz will be on Comm Ave next year. Very cool read on Lane Hutson here. Apparently his bone age is delayed and could potentially grow a couple inches. Grew almost 3 inches at the NTDP last couple years. Brother and father are 5'11.

One more member of the incoming freshman class: 6’3” RW Jack Gorton, who played at Victoria in the BCHL. He and Getz are both already 20 years old and done with juniors.

Should be interesting to see where still-growing Lane Hutson is drafted. NHL.com’s Morreale has him at #18, while Kimmelman says #25. The Athletic’s Wheeler has him at #19. Will post some of their comments on the blog later today.

Fun fact: Wilmer, Q. Hutson and Kaplan skated together as the top line on the North Jersey Avs 16U AAA a few years ago.

According to Grand Forks Herald, UND will visit HAA during the 2023-24 season, BU will go to REA the following season.

Back to some more "business as usual" type of stuff - Did we ever confirm who is on the schedule for next year?

For OOC I think we know:

2x Beanpot
2x Arizona Tourney (any idea of opponents?)
2x at Michigan

Notre Dame at home (1 or 2?)

Maybe 1 each vs Harvard and Brown?

Then - does the Hockey East Schedule stay the same as far as who we play 2x vs 3x? Or does that rotate each year?

Heard they'll open the season w/ Bentley, they'll also likely play in the frozen four which is apparently counting as an OOC ... UMass v BC is frozen fenway and looks to be counted as OOC from UMass schedule.

A little behind with the schedule thread spreadsheet but should have it updated tomorrow evening.

The frozen four would be the best OOC we could imagine. :)~

Where are you seeing that? Nothing on the UMass website that I can find..

The 1/7 game that doesn't have a location yet. And by process of elimination, you can count UMass OOC is 9 so the mystery is the BC game. Also, UMass is playing 4 HE teams 3xs when it's normally 3 HE teams.

Does anyone know why Drew Commesso was not on tryout roster for world juniors
Was number 1 goalie for tournament that was cancelled and will be played in late August

No idea - have they said that all players that were eligible to play still can, even if they have now aged out (would seem to make sense as an approach)? If so, then the only thing I can think of is if he or BU or the Blackhawks don't want him to get burnt out or risk injury playing all that hockey before the season starts. Would love to see him play in it.
