BU: Offseason '22: Build The Boats

"Name me another BU goalie with as much success as he has had? I can't. For such a storied program, it is odd that Jake is the first goalie to step-up in the NHL."

Rick DiPetro immediately comes to mind. So does Jim Craig but not for his stats as a pro.

“In the NHL”

OMG, the Leafs. They are 0-9 in elimination games in their last 5 playoff series. I mean .... Oy.

Any Leafs fan that tried to say they had any confidence whatsoever going into that Game 7 against the Lightning was either lying or self-delusional. It's hard to imagine a fan base anywhere that cares more and receives less for their devotion.

That was my life as a Cubs fan until 2016. :)

The Leafs things is another level, however, given the number of playoff appearances and the chance to clinch games. #EpicPain

McMahon noted tonight a BU source confirmed to him Joe Pereira is joining Jay's staff as associate. He's also no longer listed as a coach on UConn's roster. Pretty sure we can consider that a done deal and a very, very strong hire by Jay.

It is now “Twitter official” via the team account.

Cox reported, similar to McMahon, that Pandolfo is seeking a skills/development guy for the second assistant spot. So it appears that Jay is addressing the issue of player development--much groused about on this forum. Cox brings up the name Kim Brandvold, the current Bruins' skating consultant. A former UMass Lowell player, he was Jack Eichel's skating and skills coach. Cox also reports that UConn will replace Pereira with his brother, Mike, who played at UMass.

Ok, be honest, who remembered that Joe was the leading goal scorer on the team his senior year, a team whit NHLers Chiasson, Coyle, and Nieto?

Also, it is probably pretty rare that the teams leading goal scorer is the 9th highest point-getter on the team (15g, 6a, 21 pts).

I believe if you connect the dots that this report is right on target

Not me, that's for sure. Speaking of goals to assists stat lines... KPD note in his Sunday notes column two weeks ago that BC has 5 alums who have hit 100 points in the NHL. Name the only BU alum to do it. (One other came within a whisker. Not enough assists.)

John Cullen did it and Keith Tkachuk just missed.

Recruit Charles Alexis Legault has committed to Quinnipiac for next season. Right handed defenseman Lachlan Getz committed to BU yesterday. Getz is a former Union commit. It is unknown if Getz (2002 BY) is coming this upcoming season. Leagult could've went to QU for scholarship purposes, or was asked to do another year of juniors. His father, Alexandre Legault, played for BU from 89-91. Not a major recruiting loss. From what I've seen Legault had unbelievable tools but not a great hockey brain.

Yes Cullen actually did it by scoring 94 points with Pittsburgh and 16 with Hartford in the same season if you look up his Hockey DB profile. Tkachuk got 98 one year in the regular season. 3 more in the playoffs but that is not included in this question.

Who were the 5 BC alumns? I am thinking Janney, Leetch, Gaudreau, and Mullen but blanking on the fifth.

You BU fans know your opponents well. Stevens actually did it 2 years in a row. Gaudreau didn't reach it until this season although he hit 99 one time before.

Getz, a 6'3" right shot who turned 20 earlier this year, is listed as a 2022 recruit by Heisenberg. Missed virtually all of his first BCHL season due to a broken foot, but was co-winner of Chilliwack's top D of the season award this year. According to a Chiefs coach, he's ""an elite puck mover, with a high offensive ceiling and the ability to play against the opposition's top players."

With Getz and Lane Hutson from the NTDP U18s, BU will have 10 Ds next season ( Fensore, McCarthy, Gallagher, Jarman, Webber, Copeland, Driscoll, Page)
