Certainly not a surprise. Now we have 3 goalies. Good luck to Vinny (other than if/when playing BU of course). No idea if he will have to sit out.

- Guys like Maiser and Sabo had solid years, but expectations were higher.

Maiser seemed poised be a leader on offense after a strong finish to his sophomore season, but left school for the WHL. (There were rumors about allergies to the classroom). Hearing his name always recalls his hat trick against BC in the 2003 HE semi, including the tying goal and double OT game-winner. BU lost to UNH in the final, 1-0, also in OT. IIRC, a shot that went of Whitney's stick.

Maiser was part of a heralded "Fab Five" recruit class in 2001 that included four NTDP players, Maiser, McConnell, Whitney and Miller. The fifth was David Klema, who was reportedly a strong playmaker, but he certainly fits in with disappoints group. He was "removed" from the team just prior to his senior season. "Coach's decision" was the only reason given.

I doubt we'll hear a peep on the schedule for some time. State to state travel has too many restrictions for teams to confidently build schedules.

At this time I'm working on cleaning up the games already on my Google drive, which is going slower than I'd like as I'm also saving intermission ephemera I think might be of interest and uploading it to my YouTube channel. I'm also revisiting the games I first cleaned up, as I left in intermission stuff in some of them, but with space now a concern I'm making the game files smaller by removing said stuff (for example, I reduced the size of the 2002 Beanpot Championship game by 3.1 GB) and putting the ephemera on my YouTube channel. The channel currenty has 125 extras, mostly ephemera from game intermissions, but also a few other things that I recorded before or after games. I've also updated the spreadsheet so that BU games are now separate from non-BU games (in preparation for when I remove at least some of the non-BU games from the drive) and I added a sheet with all the non-BU hockey highlights on my YouTube channel.

Sabres have fired GM Jason Botterill and Buffalo News reports that former BU AHC Steve Greeley, who was a Sabres assistant gm, also was axed.

Has anyone heard any news (rumors) about the schedule for 2020-21? Or whether there will be a season?

I don't think there has been any news that I'm aware of, but for what it is worth there is some movement starting to show up in college sports in general that as a minimum things won't be "business as usual".

Bowdoin (D3 I know) has canceled all fall sports (with the possibility of competitions beginning after Jan 1, 2021). The Patriot League released a statement about how no teams will fly to compete and also no overnight travel (or something to that effect). MIT has announced that fall semester will be in some sort of modified or hybrid model which I would think would have to affect athletics.

Will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.

I have reached a second milestone on my Google drive: all 260 BU games I had previously uploaded have had commercials and intermissions removed, making the files smaller and the running times shorter. I have also upgraded the 1986 Hockey East Championship game with better video for most of the game. Furthermore, I have started editing the remaining games I still have offline and have already uploaded three:
1993-03-20 Hockey East Championship BU vs Maine (edited 2-hour version)
1994-01-14 BU at BC
1994-10-30 Maine at BU

I had forgotten that the 1993 championship game was close into the third period. Of course, that was a really good team, but losing the Beanpot to Harvard, along with the losses to Maine and Lake Superior at the end of the season have perhaps unfairly tarnished the reputation of that team. And for whatever reason it looks like I don't have many games from that season (5 online, plus another three to be uploaded) and I somehow misplaced the 1993 Hockey East semifinal game.

The 10-30-1994 Maine at BU game is the 30th of the 40 played that season I have (but which I misnamed when I converted it, so I had overlooked it previously). It was one of two ties vs Maine that proved critical to tying them for the regular season championship as BU won both shootout and extra points.

I have also added over 200 extras to my YouTube channel, mostly interviews and ephemera created as intermission filler, but also some material that was on the tapes before and/or after games.

Finally, I have modified the drive index so that it now has the video length (LV) for every BU game and I have added notes on the top sheet with information on each sheet and each column.

In regards to the committee, dont stop with just at Rhett. I am personally offended by your mascot as I was once bitten by a terrier (dog, not one of your fans), and we have been told that if 1 person is offended then we have to come up with something else. Also as a member of PETA, I believe that it is despicable how puppy mills breed and treat dogs, and your mascot just perpetuates this cruelty. Why should young fans who have not been indoctrinated into the socialist ethos in school be lured into following a racist, vicious, inbred and maltreated depiction of a sweet and gentle therapy pet? Oh, and your former coach used to call the UNH coach a terrible name in the media all the time. His name is Richard!

EDIT - Tried to put smiles and winks here but this new site .....

BU, please stay strong. Who even knew this was a thing. Millions are out of work, families are in dire need, elderly people are dying alone and this is a big concern? If this goes thru, forget about Minuteman as a mascot. Will Maine have to shorten theirs to just "Bears"? When PETA comes calling, do all animal names need to go?

BIGGEST QUESTION In the spirit of the moment - Where is the push to change the name YALE? Ya know, the university was named after an actual SLAVE TRADER!

I've uploaded another 7 games to my Google drive:
1990-11-27 NU at BU
1990-12-02 Maine at BU
1992-01-10 BU at NU
1992-02-07 PC at BU
1992-12-04 BU at MC
1993-01-15 BU at BC
1993-02-05 UNH at BU

I've also color coded the new uploads on the spreadsheet index, so they will be easy to find.

I totally understand and support changing offensive mascots (Indians, Chiefs etc etc) but Rhett's name seems like a stretch of connecting the dots to something offensive IMO.

it's always ok for criticism, until it comes to your doorstep!!!!! ;)

So I understand that the terrier mascot was named Rhett because BU's colors are Scarlet and White and "no one loves Scarlet more than Rhett."

Well, actually, the character Rhett Butler didn't love "Scarlet." Her name was spelled with two t's, the same as Rhett's was.

The first sentence of Margaret Mitchell's novel, "Gone With the Wind," begins as follows: "Scarlett O'Hara was not beautiful..."

Perhaps the solution to the problem is to drop the last t from Rhett's name, call him Rhet, and hope nobody will be offended.

If the concern is that any name that sounds like the name of a character in "Gone With the Wind" is unacceptable, then BU may need to change its school colors, because "Scarlet" is going to be just as unacceptable as "Rhet."

You can't change your color to Cherry, though. RPI's already got that one. ;)
